Think the major differance We had 2 great full backs in densmore and doughty, gregg and mark were well protected,

this showed in the way we used to give away corner after corner but these have tightened up this season,

obviosly the whole team is better but dont think weve seen anywhere near this type of quality full backs in recent seasons,

another is danylk is basically the white makalele but can shoot ;D

Tactically we were cleverer this year, really going at teams with 3 upfront at home and playing with johnson who can hold the ball up away

I reckon the three months from end of September to Boxing day when we discovered how to keep clean sheets at home and how to win away made the difference.  (If we hadn't had the cold snap and the postponement of a bunch of games when in fine form who knows where we would have finished)

home

Lewes 1-0
Mansfield 1-0
Ebbsfleet 2-0
Oxford 1-0
Cambridge 1-0

Five straight home wins, five straight clean sheets and three good scalps in there

away

Rushden 1-1
Salisbury 3-1
Weymouth 0-2 (OK, not perfect)
Forest Green 3-1
Crawley 0-4 (sigh)
Barrow 2-2
Northwich 1-0
York 2-1

13 matches 28 points - more than half our haul for the season.

I think it was all down to COMPLACENCY of the other teams (sniggers)

Credit to the manager and the players of course, but generally speaking I thought the quality of the league was much poorer this year than it has been in previous seasons. Felt for the most part as if the field had been levelled somewhat, maybe due to credit crunch, tighter restrictions on accounts etc.

I agree with this in part, although the players and management deserve all the credit - you can only beat whats put in front of you as they say. I can see the standard levelling out further next season, which - if we can keep this squad together with perhaps one or two solid additions - can only bode well for next season.

Little confused here, the question was why we stayed up ie what was differant about our approach on the pitch in terms of quality,

I was just using the wing backs as a big example
