Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Burton to Altrincham by train
« on: December 01, 2006, 10:11:24 PM »
Its a tram, like a light rail thing similar to the one in Nottingham. Follow signs at Piccadilly to Metrolink. Plenty of them too.

Its an easy walk from the station, signedposted. Moss Lane is the first left after you exit the station forecourt having turned left. Plenty pubs in town (although not quite in the same league as Burton)! The Bridge on Moss Lane is ok too, and the club bar will be open from early on, enter from Moss Lane just by the main stand, not from inside the ground, you probably wont be able to.

I seem to remember some problems getting out and back to the coach after that one too. think it followed some handbags on the way out of the bar at half time?

First game on my own, Ellesmere Port at home, August 1971ish. Won 4-2. Spot on about today's kids, my 14 yr old pulls a tantrum if she has to walk to school, its about half a mile away!

Understand where you're coming from but the bloke has a rack record of hijacking any show and making the club look ridiculous in the process. Perhaps someone at the club checked out the script first?

Quayle has never settled anywhere as far as I can make out, just suggests to me a no loyalty player , probably motivated by cash or self-interest. Best left well alone.

Segregated unfortunately, but stewards very fair and friendly. Foul weather too. All in all its not a bad place to go, down to earth nice people in the local pubs too.

Top dog Peter.......

Things are starting to get silly now. As I said earlier, much earlier, all the kids should be welcomed. If they are generally and collectively being a nuisance a simple announcement over the PA requesting them to sit down or asking parents to ensure they sit down should suffice in all but the most persistent cases.

I personally haven't worn them to the match since about 1975.

There was a centre half ( in the old 5-3-2 days) about 1971-2, Brian someone. He was massive but gangly, I reckon about 6,5 or so.

Remember Kevan Hawkins wasn't exactly a giant.

Right, apart from the fact that the whole world now seems health and safety mad (whatever happened to kids finding out themselves that if you fall down it hurts?) we now have stewards moaning about looking after people and telling them what is and isn't acceptable. If there really was a major issue did anyone ask the PA announcer to ask everyone to sit down?
