Recent correspondence in the Manchester Evening News states that Greater Manchester is only an administrative county. Manchester itself (and unfortunately Stretford where I live) are still in Lancashire, and so is Warrington !

Altrincham remains in Cheshire (pity we have to share the space with Northwich and Macclesfield, but we can't have everything).
