On a serious note, I see the weather forecast for the week ahead is dire & from the video I could see the pitch was already retaining water in the usual areas yesterday. From a financial & wider reputation of the club POV it would be a disaster if the York game was off. Can the covers come into play & is there anything else we can do to get ahead of the rain?

It may already be too late. We have localised flooding in the area already, and a stricter official might have abandoned yesterday's game. The only day we're not expecting rain is Tuesday.

Wow the continual heavy in the altrincham/timperley/greater Manchester area today has been relentless. There are flood warnings for the brook at the back of the ground in place and its close to flooding the golf course. I see parts of timperley are under water.

Hope  no ones property is damaged.

Whilst we all want the game on this Saturday it puts the situation into perspective.

The club need to be on their A game with communication this week. I can only post what I'm given. We need to keep everyone updated, especially as it helps to reiterate that we are actually working on the pitch rather than sitting on our hands. In the event of a postponement, we may need to call upon the good faith that buys us with York fans.

It really has been ridiculous this weather and I think the problem we are going to have is that our pitch drains into the nearby brook, which is practically flooded? There's nowhere for this water to go.

Fingers crossed, anyway. Got to go about the week as normal and try and drum up as much support as possible regardless.

Joking aside as said above the forecast for at least a week is awful . We need to start using the covers for the intended purpose or sell them

The stream near our house between Ashstead and Dalebrook Roads, actually ran over onto the field and flooded some houses on Dalebrook yesterday. Never happened before in this area in 40 years, according to my next door neighbour.

The brook eventually goes through Woodheys and Pinkey Bridge at the bottom of Woodhouse Lane before joining the Mersey. Not sure how other areas fared though. I used to fish for Sticklebacks with a net when I was a kid in those areas. I used to live just off Meadway.

Popped in at about 18:00 this evening and posted an update on Twitter and Facebook.

Looks okay, let’s see how we get on with this upcoming rain but I think we should be sound.

The worst of the rain is forecast for around 36 hours commencing 3pm today.
