I am very sad to let Alty fans know that Jill Sant recently lost her brave fight with liver/pancreatic cancer.
Jill died peacefully at Severn Hospice in Shrewsbury on March 14th.
Jill had been unable to attend Alty matches in recent times, due to her illness but she travelled frequently from Shropshire for a number of years, with her husband Ray, a lifelong Alty fan & regular contributor on this forum as 'Distance Traveller'......watching matches from a fairly central position on the Popular Side.
I am sure that all Alty fans, particularly those who knew Jill, will send their thoughts & deepest condolences to Ray & his family at this desperately sad time.

Folks of the forum.
First of all, a Big Thank you to Brian Flynn for posting this tribute on here.
I just logged on and read all the lovely comments that you good people have said about Jill.
May I, on behalf of Jill and all my family thank each and all of you for your kind words.
It will be difficult walking round to my usual spot on the popular side but I do intend in the near future to return to Moss lane, and see you all.
There may be problems on the field of play but it is heart warming to read all you have taken time to post comments
Thank you one and all.
Ray, Dan & Steve Sant

Ray, I'd just like to add my condolences to those of so many other Alty fans. Though we haven't actually met, I've been aware of your allegiance to Alty, and your wife's, for some time, due to your many posts on the forum and the fact that my son and his fiance live not so far from you in Shropshire. Also, of course, as you pointed out in a post about Frankie Peters, we are of a similar vintage! What a tough time you've been through. I just hope you are able to draw at least some comfort from so many heartfelt messages from friends and people who not only care about the club but, as a natural extension, those who support it.
