Following on from Dale's departure was this comment - that other Altrincham players are available.

Anyone care to speculate on who they are?

It also suggests that GH/KMc have their targets in mind to strengthen the squad.

I'm horribly afraid that we may release Matt Doughty. If it wasn't for that bloody two year contract Twiss would be a near certainty. McCready hasn't featured much - depends what savings we can make on him.

I'm not sure whether it is a good or bad thing that one month into the season, GH realises his squad isn't good enough.

I would hope that having been one of the first names on the team sheet ever since he joined that Matt Doughty would be kept, especially given that Ryan Brown is unconvincing at the moment. But again that would depend on a full recovery, if he's lost a yard of pace would he be the same player. Perhaps he may be available on loan. I think the things is that better players may currently be available than the summer. GH  may have been after them but they held out for better deals elsewhere and didn't get them or there are players who were fixed up but now realise the aren't going to feature much because of new arrivals etc.

Good point Ballers. We got James Smith a couple of years back because he'd hung on for a better deal after turning down an apparently decent offer to stay at Stockport, and when nothing was forthcoming we benefited.

Why has everyone got it in for Michael Twiss? He has hardly been given the opportunity to play yet!
Also, Matt Doughty a better left back than Ryan Brown? Are you sure?
Interesting that Tom Kearney has not been released. Wonder if he has committed to us for the season afterall.

Yes, Twiss needs to be given more of a chance. IMO, Doughty is a better left back than Brown (although I am a fan of Brown, too). I'd hang onto Holsgrove - he looks a decent prospect.

I too agree that Matty is really good left back but you have to take into account the type of injury he has suffered and will it have any effect on his confidence..

Suprised to see Dale leave, although he looked absolutely gash this season, clearly unfit and a different player to what we saw pre injury.
