Strange isn't it?

We push forward rather than perpetually going backwards and sideways, and, lo and behold, we score goals and win!!

One down, 15 minutes. Staying at home was a good choice.

Yet again a header from a corner. What do we practice in training all week ? It's happening with frightening regularity.
Would have been ideal to turn up at half time. 😂😂

I'd quite likely have gone home at half time 😂

Much better second half. Tempo was spot on and counter attacking football.

Good to see the wide players come off the line and what great finishes. Full back setting up a goal.

Well done lads.

A much needed win. After CCC fluffed that golden chance on HT I didn’t hold out much hope for the second half but we belatedly woke up, two well worked goals & very well taken when you think of some of our woeful finishing this season. You could clearly see last night the influence Newby & Jennings are already starting to have & they’ll only get fitter & better. We really need to look at our game management though, I thought another Torquay was on the cards. This is where Pringle when fit would be so valuable. Set pieces too, hearts in our mouths every time we defend one & we continue to look unlikely on attacking set pieces, I’m hoping the return of Toby will help a lot in both regards.

My mom was Toby Mullarkey , what a game he had and should keep Barrows on the subs bench.
I thought the eleven on the pitch were outstanding with special mention to a wonderful cross from jones and a superb finish from Newby.
I thought we didn’t get going for the first twenty minutes and stood a yard off , but once the belief came and the work rate was upped we were a positive looking team all over the pitch and gave York a tough night to reflect on.
Onward to Woking and to give them something to think about rather than the pretty passes at Wrexham.

It was noticeable that there was far less passing across the back four last night.

Byrne may have got it wrong a couple of times but during our relegation season we had a succession of goalies who could only kick it out of play. The guy is still young. He's on a learning curve.

Wow! Didn't realise you were related. 😂😂

Just watched  the highlights. We scored 2 very well goals(should have been 3).

Their goal is beyond soft and Byrne doesn't do very well in his 6 yrd box again

They've sacked Askey.

Didn't see that coming.

Gone down like a lead balloon with York fans on Twitter. Clearly a falling out between Askey & the Chairman, assuming about money as it normally is. York could get sucked into the relegation more easily now.

Seems like the York fans seem to think ex united and York player (and allegedly chairman's mate) Jonathan Greening is the unofficial favourite to replace him?

As per earlier post re the response from York fans on Twitter, lots of requests from their fans asking for refunds to a fund set up only recently by the ycfc Supporters Trust, to help John Askey with funds to boost the playing squad. Guy Mowbray certainly not happy, asking for his donation back. Interesting to see where John Askey goes next, would be surprising if he's out of a job for long.
