I’d seen James Jones shoulder injury meant he was out for the season. I think was in a Flynny audio interview somewhere and I think in the interview the physios did with AltyTV a while back. There wasn’t an announcement as such but certainly not the first time it’s been mentioned publicly

Another month would be a bit odd because I don’t think you can extend more than twice so he’d then have to go back in Feb. Unless new management are happy to leave him here while they asses what they’ve got then get him back in Feb with a view to forming a view on potential new contract for him in the summer over the next few months?

I wouldn’t fancy that if I was him though. Potentially looking a for a new club after not playing much at the back end of the season isnt easy

Depends what they claimed they could do. They could have said this will help and you’ll postpone 3 games a year instead of 10 but it won’t solve your problem. We then decide whether it’s worth it or not. You can’t blame them without knowing what the appointment process was. If they did claim that they could fix it then you are quite right.

Quite. We used experts to make the best of a bad job. The alternative is move or sit or your hands and watch it get worse and worse.

Is it just me or is it a little odd to have a website article saying “full details” and then the article doesn’t say how long the new deal is for. In fact it contains no details at all, just some nice quotes.

Great news that they’ve signed up for longer than before but as I don’t know what that was or is I’m not sure quite how pleased I should be!

Oh that’s not even close is it?  Very poor decision that even VAR would have fixed!

High praise from the Chesterfield fans on social media (the best the commentator could manage was that we gave them an 'intriguing game') who said we're the best team to come to them this season.

That’s not true. He repeatedly complemented us, in particular that we looked very solid at the back.  He also mentioned we were a threat going forward especially on the break and that we had provided a stern test of their winning home record. He also acknowledged on more than one occasion that our defenders had kept Grieg very quiet all night. Nothing we didn’t deserve but he gave credit where it was due and therefore so am I!

Interesting how we see things differently - all our free kicks were met with 'come off it / he's barely touched him there' etc - and when Berry scored it was 'all their pressure finally paid off'

Happy to acknowledge balanced commentary teams where due - and in fairness he put in more research than most - maybe I'm asking too much!

In fairness give me a sole commentator over a co-commentary team that have forced banter with each other - call me a miserabke git but I'm not interested, just concentrate on the action please!

I didn’t say he was balanced and I disagreed with his view on some ref decisions as you suggest but he did give us credit for playing well / being good team etc which you said he didn’t. He also mentioned “noisy fans” on a couple if occasions once saying we had made as much noise as theirs so overall as good as I’ve heard from a home commentary

I also agree on keeping Linney on ahead of any other option we have.

I thought the commentator was decent. Especially considering he had no summariser. I thought he gave credit where it was due to our players and fans. He recognised our players pretty well and slipped a couple of Alty facts in there. He was mistake. That Parky played for us but did say he had a feeling he had so overall very good for a home voice.

I thought we played well. Personally still not 100% convinced on Newby. Positionally very iffy and going forward isnt earth shattering for me. Didn’t see the Barnet game to be fair.

Am I right in saying this is the FAs sanction and therefore there may be Football League sanctions if the rules were also broken in their competition?

Apparently, the problem was that FGR didn't provide a written agreement from the parent club of a loan player that they had given their permission for him to play for FGR in the FA Cup.
If this is the case then there won't be any case from the EFL.

Well either he was eligible to play and there was some paperwork missing - fine them for being rubbish at admin OR he wasn’t eligible in which case kick them out. How the hell do you end up with a replay as the right answer here?

Tell players not to take more than 2 touches unless it moves us at least 5 yards forwards. The number of times someone had 3,4,5 touches to stand still at Eastleigh was infuriating. We did it much less second half and things improved markedly
