Following on from the piece on teh club website didn't the Stalybridge FA Cup game count as a void game after they fielded and unregistered player and mysteriously were not thrown out of the competiton?

Andy Mason was that man.

Followed by the capitulation against the huge beast that was Martin Filson.

The last two trophy games i got to see were 2 halves of the abandomment coin

Firstly I saw us storm into a 2 goal league lead at Tamworth, before being pegged back to 2-1 at half time only for the game to be abandoned even though the fog was lifting

And then a long midweek trip from the South East to Curzon Ashton for a routine 2-0 win and wonder what all the fuss had been about in the display on the previous Saturday.

The worrying precedent for me is that the team that was leading both abandonments went on to lose the rematch.

The AA website tells me Colwyn Bay is a 4 and a half hour drive from where my car is parked, and my car is parked an hour and a half away from where I am - so no trip to North Wales for me this evening

Bill,

I will send you the customary text updates this evening, as long as Frank Sinclair's Praetorian Guard allow me to enter the stadium.

Do you recall an NPL Cup tie at Gainsborough Trinity being declared void back in March 1975?

We lost that game 2-1......and were then defeated 2-0 in the replacement fixture.

I still don't understand how goals and appearances don't count but bookings do.

How can you get a yellow or red card if you haven't made an appearance?

Barry, I do recall the Gainsborough void game and raise you Newport County, Gary Stewart scoring the goal that never was in our 1-0 victory

I will eagerly await your texts tonight, although with a sense of foreboding
