Altrincham FC First Team / Game on the 25th.
« on: November 12, 2017, 01:05:39 PM »
Does anyone have an idea of what fixture, if any, we are likely to have scheduled for the 25th Nov.  It says Ashton Utd on the website but I don't know whether this will be confirmed or not.

Altrincham FC First Team / What you wish for...
« on: October 14, 2017, 08:24:27 PM »
Lovely to see such a composed second half today; there was a world of difference from what they had delivered in the first ninety.  The players seem to now believe that they can beat anyone in this league and the goal rate is such that other teams will not look forward to facing us given what we increasingly appear capable of.  I am tentatively beginning to think that the title, rather than the play-offs, is within our grasp.  A particular positive is that the team seems to enjoy playing for each other and the style of football, while sometimes frustratingly over-complex, has been a joy to watch more often than not.  Well done all, keep it up!

Altrincham FC First Team / Annus miraculus!

Not quite the second coming perhaps, but a far better showing by all accounts and something to lighten the spirits.  Well done all.

Altrincham FC First Team / Alty youth 'firm'
« on: March 28, 2016, 06:24:44 PM »
I expect I am not alone in noticing the group of 10 or so 11/12 year olds who stayed at the away end to offer abuse to the Southport fans at the start of the second half.  A couple of the knobs were sporting Stone Island and clearly thought that they offered some sort of threat.  They got shepherded by one(!) of our stewards back to the Golf Road end where they were kept an eye on.  However, as I was driving away at the end of the match, they had congregated on the grass outside the shops and were gesturing towards the away support; a couple of police cars had parked either side of the supporters coach as well.

I have no idea whether there was any nonsense, but the possibility of Alty finding itself with a group of pre-pubescent pretend hooligans is, frankly, depressing.

Altrincham FC First Team / Passing comment...
« on: October 06, 2015, 10:45:00 PM »
I accept that Lee is an advocate of the passing game, a style that is pleasing to watch when used effectively, however, given the conditions tonight and the amount of needlessly kicked away possession, why was the call not made to try and push/punt the ball forward rather than pass it laterally, a route that only encouraged 'fax onto us?  Frustrated is too meek a word after watching tonight's performance.

Altrincham FC First Team / Replica shirt
« on: August 08, 2015, 07:14:30 PM »
Just posting wondering if anyone might have a replica home shirt to fit a 10/11 year old that they're looking to get rid of.  Needn't be the latest version.  Son not totally committed to the cause yet so don't want to fork out £30 for a shirt he might decide he doesn't want to wear in a couple of months.

Altrincham FC First Team / Stockport rumours.....
« on: April 23, 2014, 01:57:53 PM »
Returning to work after the weekend, I've had assurances from a number of ardent Stockport fans that they have already agreed terms with two Alty players for next season, one of them a striker.  No names yet, but I'm inclined to think that, assuming their is substance in what they have told me, that Reeves may be one.  I think that Stockport feel that they have found their level and are now seeking to rebuild.  Can't blame them for that, but it would be a shame to see some of our best players move east.

Altrincham FC First Team / Not pretty, but....
« on: March 13, 2013, 09:55:06 PM »
Little doubt that tonight's game was make or break re. the rest of the season, so glad that it went our way (even if it wasn't pretty).  Talk about making life difficult.  After receiving a call from Mrs T to 'get home' about 20 minutes into the match, I'd just like to, once again, thank the RR team for another great commentary.

Altrincham FC First Team / Walking wounded.
« on: January 29, 2013, 05:47:16 PM »
As the season continues, so the likely impact of players being injured seems to become more of a threat.

On that theme then, what injuries have you carried into Moss Lane with you intent on soldiering on in support of the Robins with little regard to your own well-being.  For my part, I will be attending tonight's match while nursing a broken rib sustained while sledging at Dunham Forest Golf Course on Saturday morning.  Hardcore, I know!

Altrincham FC First Team / Alty pin badge
« on: February 22, 2011, 04:51:46 PM »
First message this, so let's see how the forum works.....
I'm on the lookout for an Alty pin badge, not the latest version, but the Robin one.  I had one which I bought about twenty-something years ago but lost it a couple of months ago.  I'm getting a bit OCD in the search for it around the house and need help!  I could find a replacement all would be fine again so I'm asking forum members to let  me know if they have badge that they would be willing to sell (or I'll make a donation to the club, whichever you suggest).

If you can help, please PM me.

Ta, in anticipation.
