Waterfall's only on loan so it'll be 50% of 'not peanuts'. No idea on Pilkington, tbh but he'd not exactly been a regular anywhere recently.

Turnbull left a struggling league two side having played 14 times in two years, with loan spells at a bottom half Confrence side and a relegated conference side. In what world does that player demand, or get £800 a week?

Do we really have the same budget as Hyde last season? Who knows. Is any player at the club on anything like £800pw?

I think we only paid that sort of wage to top players in the FL. I'd guess no more than a handfuls were on £1000+ in our entire time there.

Not that it really matters. Eastleigh players were reportedly bragging about taking home £2/3,000 pw, and they were sh*te.

I do believe that the Macc fans on this thread are correct in what they say about their playing budget.

This is based on the fact that a central defender, who has played all of his career of over 300 games in the Football League, & played 35 games for a team that was promoted to the Championship two seasons ago, was offered £300 per week in the summer by Macc......he turned them down.

I would be amazed if Paul Turnbull was on £800 per week, my guess would be about £400.

It is likely that Luke Waterfall's wages are being split between Macc & SC**thorpe & I would guess that he costs them about £300 per week.

If the Macc players are on 40 week contracts, then £250,000 works out at £6250 per week, which would sustain a squad of 21 @ £300 per week average wage.

If they are on 52 week contracts, then it works out at just over £4800 per week, which would sustain a squad of 16 @ £300 per week average wage.

Doesn't sound a million miles off. Throw in that the squad includes a handful of former youth teamers (we ditched the youth side this season), players like Domaine Rouse who is playing for free and you can squeeze a bit more out of the small budget.

We pay more to players that weren't good enough for Conference North
