Fair interview, so Neil is hoping for 8/9 players retained. 4 are on contract plus 4/5 others to be offered terms. saying this will be over next week or so, however I guess some he will have contacted already.

Sounds good - I think this will be a good appointment- pity we couldn't get him in earlier. Anyways I'm more confident about renewing my season ticket having heard this.

Very good interview.  Feel the most positive I have since  October.

Wonder who the 4/5 wanted players are and what's his day job?

You would guess Deasy , Leather and Reeves will be offered terms for next season ,  after that it's hard to say

Something strangely reassuring about a person with a scouse accent managing us again.

If I had to guess I would say Densmore (he's definitely the kind of leader referred to in that interview), Leather, Moult, Clee, Reeves with maybes as Marshall/Richman. But that's total guesswork.

Good positive stuff anyway that we can all get behind.

I liked the bit for a need for a couple of leaders on and off the pitch, Something we have sadly lacked for a few seasons now.
No more being bullied and heads dropping . No more lack of fight and desire. Lets be horrible to play against.

Good luck with your project Neil and Gary.

I don't feel as ecstatic as a Leicester fan but I do feel a lot happier than I did at 7-00pm Saturday night

C'mon The Alty

Lots of the right noises being made and reassuringly a familiarity with the current squad. Finally a manager who knows the local scene and has no ties to the club before. Should've been six weeks ago.

and what's his day job?

When he was at Chester I think something was mentioned about MerseyRail, he obviously may have moved on.

He said all the usual things expected of a new manager nothing more nothing less and I wish him well.

Before this time next year we will know much better how good he is, it will all depend on players ultimately and Neil/Gary's ability (or even luck) in finding the right ones and then getting them to perform consistently.

Well, I think it was a very uplifting interview. I also get the distinct impression that he'll be much more effective than LS when it comes to persuading players to come to Alty.

Do I take it that you are not very impressed by the new management team.?

If Sinnott had given that interview you would have wanted to give him an Oscar.

I'm just saying time will tell. He seems pretty well qualified and I dont know of any better options we have.

I agree here. I very much liked his effort to ensure that any of his targets didn't sign for anyone else before at least speaking to them. They clearly have contacts and know it. There's not much point beating LS and NT up about this, it may be a case they were too reserved in their statements and ultimately we'll never know how many players they nearly made great signings of but you always got the impression they didn't have great contacts and any decent signing was a nice surprise.

Pukka says it was the standard interview but for me a lot of intent shone through. I suppose effectively he said that it was a reduced budget, we probably wouldn't get the player he wanted and was merely going to put a committed team out rather than promising a promotion push but it still came across as very serious and positive.

Yes completely agree Ballers with your analysis. The point I was alluding to was that I've just heard so many interviews like this that I've come to realise that actions and performance always speak louder than words.

If I recall LS said he would put a smile back on our faces which at the time seemed quite a statement but most fans agreed he did do, but eventually (41/2 years later) he lost his appetite, funny that at Stockport NY resigned when things went awry in his first season, but I hear he was pretty unlucky there and was undermined a lot there and thats why he went. LS wasn't undermined at Alty, I think he just realised he had taken the team as far as he could.

I just hope Neil and his team do well and until proved otherwise he has my support.

Two Val Owen/Eddie Hussin types needed in midfield.

Bryan,

I know that it would be extremely convenient for certain individuals if the club were suddenly to declare a Year Zero like Cambodia in 1975 but people are actually entitled to comment on the events of the 2015/16 season.

Barry,
I was replying to what SW had posted on 1st May.
Can't  do this cut and paste thing.
'Message to Graham Rowley and family'
Quote

Maybes are maybes, now thankfully action has been taken.
New start ' LETS MOVE ON AND UP'.
Welcome Neil.

You are correct Barry that everybody is entitled to their opinion.
But we have got to move on soon.
If this carries on, it will be going on longer than 'The War Of The Seventh Coalition'!!!

We scored 48 and conceeded 73.

So F 68 A 53 would be nice.

If we concede 53 this season Id hope we score more than 68! Scoring 68 wouldn't be too bad if we only conceded 33!

Two sides in the playoffs conceded 53 goals this season in the North. Nobody came close to only conceding 33. 45 was the lowest (Tamworth 7th)

Scoring wise, 6 sides scored more than 68 - all the top 6.

If we went 20/20, we'd have a goal difference of +25 meaning that only 3 sides would matched or bettered it.

68-53 is 15 so +15
I'd like us to aim a bit higher that.

not really, not enough goals for a start

20/20 was always bullsh*t anyway
