Great player in the great Alty side 1979-1981. If my memory is correct, did he not score the first goal in the 2-0 FA Cup win at Rotherham before Barry Hioward gem (one of the best Alty goals ever) ?.Mal Bailey scored the other goal against Rotherham. I do recall Barrow scoring against a Man City 1st team in a testimonial match. Class player, was sad to see him go.
Great midfielder - strong on the ground and in the air - and Alty through and through - would have stayed with us had we got promoted. Also was not a Scouser.
.... is negated by the woeful followings some Conference North sides clubs have, and also miles less media coverage and profile in generalOne of the big problems of relegation apart from smaller crowds is the potential to attract sponsorship and advertising revenue. No national media coverage would make the club a far less attractive proposition. Smaller gates + less off-field income = lower playing budget = worse players.
By the way, I think the team would like to play it to Col and Chris' feet but we get closed down that quick that in the end we have to lump it ok.Are Alty the only team in this league who get closed down quickly? It may not be the most skillful league in the world, but not all teams resort to hoof-ball. Our problem is that we defend so deeply that when we do get the ball our players get heemed in and have few alternatives. I know its not quite this simple, but play the ball further up the pitch and having players moving and supporting the player in possession would help.
Nobody, least of all, GH thinks it's a good idea.
We Should get KEN MCKENNA in as number two, with a view to graham handing over the baton to kenny when he feels its time to go, I dont care if he's full time at TNS,everything possible should be done to bring Kenny in.He would restore some fire in the bellies.Agree 100%. Ken is a winner, having proved his worth with TNS. If the chairman's comments in the NLP about the possibility of 50/50 part-time/full-time were to happen sooner rather than later, then McKenna would be perfect. The only negative would be forking out extra non-playing wages instead of improving the squad - but could be a better long-term solution.
