Slighty off topic (from VIcs forum)
« on: September 05, 2008, 10:21:06 PM »

The green weirdoes have got a thread with this picture up. I don't know who it is, but I think it's Telford Utd from the 80's because

a) it looks like the old bucks head, even though they used to take their team photos in front of that old good stand

b) they are sponsored by Maxell, which is familiar.

Anyway, if it is

i) Is that Harry Wiggins back row top left next to the trainer?

ii) Is Phil Wilson back row secnd from the right?

iii) Ken McKenna should be on there but I don't see him.

Recognise any others?

I would say that it is indeed Harry Wiggins

Your Phil Wilson looks a bit like Anton Joseph but I may be wrong

Can't see Super Ken but Andy Lee is sat next to Stan Storton I think

That was one cracking side, they underachieved in the league but likely due to all those rearranged games following the cup runs. A team I would welcome back to the fold willingly.

That's indisputably Harry Wiggins.

Andy Lee is the one with the Mitre ball positioned in front of him.

The manager is Stan Storton, who was the boss at Runcorn when we defeated them in the FA Trophy semi-final back in 1978.

I think that is the manager's brother, Trevor Storton, two along from Harry Wiggins?

One of the goalkeepers must be Kevin Charlton, who also played for Bangor City in the early days of the Alliance Premier League?

I suspect that the black gentleman is Steve Nelson, a central defender who Telford signed from Vics.

The guy third along from the left on the front row looks like Tony Griffiths, who played against Alty for Leek in the FA Trophy in 1991 (yes, that 4-0 victory when Harry Wiggins scored a goal and then lost a contact lens during the celebrations!).

I think that Anton Joseph is next to Andy Lee?

The likes of Dave Mather and John Stringer will be on there....

Perhaps Ken McKenna was at Tranmere when this photo was taken?

Cult goes straight to the top of the class I think!!

Kevin Charlton is next to Steve Nelson.

I'm not sure if Trevor Storton is on there or not.

A pint of Guinness Cult if you can tell me Anthony Griffiths' nickname! ???

Is that not a very young looking Kenny McKenna sat on the left of the manager on the front row?
