Post by: ianpickles on June 29, 2023, 07:26:58 AM
When are the fixtures announced, please, and who do want to start with and at Christmas and New Year?

It is. Would like to face one of the big teams first, before they have had a chance to gel, we usually get a promoted team though.

I think they do that on purpose to give them an easy start! 😂😂

PS. Could be a bit different this season (hopefully!) 😉

Looking at Christmas pairings, I suspect we'll either get Fylde or Kidderminster...

Afraid you may be right.
Personally would like a game against Oldham or Rochdale.

It would seem logical to pair Oldham and Rochdale over the festive season, but policing considerations could prevent that. So we COULD get one of them - but then someone has to face Fylde....

Oldham and Halifax, and us and Rochdale would work for me but then who knows?
Personally, I'd pair Fylde with someone quite far away (just for the bantz!)

I predict a trip to Ebbsfleet, with a visit from Gateshead on Tuesday evening.

We will probably start with an away fixture…..Bromley..

Kiddy at Christmas/New year

If we've selected United as our nominated "not to clash with home fixtures" they are at home in their first fixture a week later. I'm figuring logically we'll be away that weekend in our second game. Would follow we'd be at home the first game we play the week before. Probably be flawed thinking though. If we aren't at home first game I'm certain we'll be away.

On the Christmas/New Year pairings - and assuming they'll have to pair Solihull and Oxford up - it all hinges on Chesterfield.

If they pair them up with Kiddy, we'll get Fylde (and then all the other pairs in the north are self explanatory - Oldham/Dale, Halifax/York, Gateshead/Hartlepool).

However, last year the league paired Oldham with Notts (and obviously like putting the giants together) so if they go Chesterfield/Oldham this time, I guess they probably pair Rochdale up with Flyde instead... and send us down to Kidderminster.

But then again, when did the league follow any kind of logic / common sense?

Fixtures out in just over an hour!
Opening fixture? I'm going for Kidderminster at home!
What do you think 🤔

Favourable at first glance. Home first and last games plus a fair crimbo double header.

Come on Alty!

Tough opening few games imho.
Thought Kiddy would be on a notable date. Not the opener though, it's on Good Friday!

Great to retain Halifax over the Christmas period - what do I know!

I think the first few games look really tough, need to get some points on the board but not easy games at all, run in looks much more favourable

Totally. First 10 games there’s a lot of sides who should be there or thereabouts. So will give us a good indicator of our level & important therefore we’ve got our business done early. Shame both Rochdale games are Tuesday night as they could be a bit spicy. Both Oldham games being 3pm KO is decent though. Halifax at Christmas is all a bit meh but much better than Fylde or Kiddy.
