Firstly I don't condone any type of violence of any sort but hope the lad, think he was called 'Gary' is ok. This is the second time in 20 months I've witnessed violence at Moss Lane, the other being Wrexham on NYD, disregarding FC Utd. I have followed Alty since 1995 and to my recollection don't remember feeling so uncomfortable as I did today.
Not only do we seem to be not performing on the pitch, the club seem to be getting it wrong off the pitch. Now before anyone jumps down my throat, I'm not criticising the chairman or stewards etc but if everyone I spoke to could see what was coming why can't the club?
After the Wrexham game I would have thought lessons could have been learnt. A large away following was obviously expected and Chester's own stewards attended the game. Now I would have thought as a suggestion they could have been placed on the home turnstiles primarily as a deterrent if not to recognise some fans. Secondly after the lads concerned had previously been warned about consuming alcohol in the ground why were they left alone? There are by laws to obide by and the ground is private property so suggest they go in their end or police called and removed?
I seriously worry there will be a more serious, if that word could be used, incident to the one I witnessed today. At 31 I have never seen a grown man stamp on another human beings head with such force.
Horrible
As well as still being quite emotional I think I'll still feel the need to write to Grahame Rowley about such practises.
I hope lessons can be learnt
