Martin O'Neill has his spot as Northern Ireland manager waiting for him after Michael O'Neill's stint  ;D

I see the press have gone for a two-pronged line of attack on Roy: he's not Harry Redknapp; he has a speech impediment.

I find it deeply depressing that there are people so morally bankrupt as to go into the hack journalism profession, but even more depressing that people buy these sh*te papers.

Yeah there's a world of difference between gentle mocking and outright hostility.

Well I was surprised that the FA never even mentioned the other manager that ticked all the FA boxes. i.e.

English born  ???
Has managed at the highest level in club football  ie Premiership  ???
Has international experience as both a player and manager  ???
Has taken an international team to World Cup finals  ???
Knows how to deal with overpaid Prima Donna's with a big reputation   ???
Is native in two languages (well sort of !!)    ;)

..............had the FA not heard of ? ....................

Mick McCarthy    ;D   ;D

A decent, honest and talented manager treated badly by Wolves.

I would be amazed if anyone who has played for and/or managed Ireland would even contemplate the England job.

Hodgson is another McLaren.  The FA just want a dogsbody they can blame when it all goes wrong. The truth is our players are simply not good enough. We are on a par with Sweden, Serbia and Norway. I doubt if we will make it past the group stage. But at least we are still a lot better than Scotland.

In which case Hodgson is a good choice because he has a good record working at that level, getting the best out of limited resources.
