At least it sounded like we created plenty of good chances

"The refs blown up"  - we wish!

Sounds like we deserved more. Harrogate maybe one of those places like Histon where we never get anything no matter how we play, but I'm not discouraged.

and thanks for a marvellous commentary!

Great play and just a bit more luck would have made all the difference.
Looking optomistic for the season
Thanks for the commentary

How did we lose that?  This is going a harder season to watch than I thought.  I was looking forward to going into games with a decent chance of winning it but now I'm gutted after a 3-2 away defeat when last year it would have been a good effort and on to the next home game with a shrug after a narrow away defeat.

I never like to lose, but to lose in those circumstances is a real choker. We've battered them senseless for 45 minutes and then lost to their only shot of the second half.

Bounce back on Tuesday night lads!!

I don't really understand why but I feel worse about today's result than I did after the Eastbourne game.

Boston lead 1-0 at Workington through a Kevin Holsgrove penalty.

He also scored Boston's second. ???

First of all I have to say BSN football is certainly a culture shock if Harrogate are anything to go by.

I am sat in my hotel room in downtown Harrogate wondering how we didnt manage to win that game today.

We created so many chances and they were defending for their lives for the last 35 mins

Lee Sinnot looked as bewildered as I felt when he walked off the pitch..

Harrogate probably wont have a bigger crowd all season and I am certainly not convinced they will be a force to reckon with. They were a very physical team who were very lucky to have just the one player sent off - how there no 7 and the centre back with the Lionel Ritchie hair do didnt get there marching orders is beyond me. There goalie was also in slow motion replay mode for the total game and really pissed most the visiting off big time, the ref chose not to even give him a yellow card for some unknown reason

although I am pissed off I am by no way concerned at the lads general performance

If we are going to do well in this league we can do it by playing football and not humping balls up like the opposition did.

We were a yard faster than Harrogate today.

We go again on Tues at home to Warrington Workington

Same here, it's the worst I've felt after a defeat in a very long time!

Spot on.

We could play Harrogate 100 times and we'd beat em 99 times. Today was just not meant to be.

We'll win more than we'll lose this year and there will be far worse teams in this league than Harrogate who in my opinion were pretty poor.

The only negative from today was the fact that we looked v vulnerable each time they whipped a cross in. They scored on one occassion and nearly had a couple more from similar situations.

As Nicky Clee has said on Twitter , we'll play worse than today and win.

Keep the faith.

Just got back.  First match of the season.

First off hello to WarrenPeytonstattoo who managed to be both drunk and coherent. Natty trick that.

Second how old does Paul Jones look? Are they sure he isn't 74? Did they check his birth certificate?

Lastly yes keep the faith.  Alty played some good stuff today and lost out to a bit of bad luck. Twiss and Reeves works so stick at it.

Concerns: Brown isn't good enough, Lawton has never looked match fit to me for a season now and the pre-match smoke flare thing was for too classy for that dump.

In Lee we trust.

Having now recoverered from the shock of that, starting to see the positives in it.

Nicky Clee took the piss for fun.

Both our goals were quality.  Twiss ran his arse of today and how he didn't get more than one I don't know.

On another day we would have have six goals.

If thats a big spending Conference North team then what will Solihull Moors be like?

Shame it was classic Alty really.  Big support and a good start and then sucker punch penalty.   Then more good play and second goal.

I thought at half time we were dead and buried to be honest.

I have never seen more shots blocked off the line or chances missed in a match.

It was a worry that we didnt look as solid as I thought we would at the back...clearly a lot to work on there.

The manner of the defeat was galling but we haven't just been thrashed 3-0 without having a kick.
