Phil was a true Alty fan, supporting home and away for years now, rarely missing a match.  He was also a great friend to me outside of Alty…I worked with him for 15 years at British Gas Welman House, and was his golf partner at Heyrose Golf Club for a similar period. Had so many laughs with him over the years, will miss him greatly. His son Stuart is a great credit to his Dad, when things settle down I hope I can continue to stand with Stuart and Nik on the Golf Road and share memories of his Dad. RIP Phil, you will be missed immensely.

Lovely bloke Phil, really knew his football and a constant presence on the Golf Road through the good times and bad. My Dad often stood with him and his lad. RIP Phil.

Devastated when told the news by Graeme on Saturday. I’ve only got to know Phil and Stu through watching Alty and it’s been a great pleasure to watch the ups and down from the Golf Road alongside the guys. We’ve shared the highlights like Guiseley and his humour has been a godsend on days like the Fylde debacle. I will certainly miss his company on match days and echo Graeme’s sentiments above about sharing memories of Phil with him and Stu. RIP Phil a lovely man.
