No real surprise Pete given the condition of the pitch yesterday.

It was given more chance by delaying a decision until today but it being on was more a hope than an expectation tbh

Pity that.  I bet the H&S crew were fkn panicking as per usual.. There has been no post here in case they fell over ffs (not blaming the actual posties for this decision it comes from management)  - Schools all shut yet the roads as clear - Its ok for the kids to go hurtling down fkn hills on sledges and break there necks but woe betide anyone who slips over walking into a school.

Looking fwd to Alty's next game (when the clocks go fwd)  ;)

Poor decision by the ref inspecting, its going to get 5 hours sunshine on it and we had the capabilities to remove the snow, how hard would it get with people on it allday?, its not due to drop below freezing....

And now the sunshine is out and the thaw has started, warmest day in weeks

Pitch inspection was to early, who decides these things? And the ref clearly didn't look at any weather forecast

Poor decision all around

Absolutely agree. If worst comes to the worst leave the snow on untill 3 and then move it. It wasn't frozen under foot and with the blue skies and sunshine we have its not dropping towards 0 any time soon. I don't normally say stuff like this, but this seems like a decision from a ref that didn't fancy a run around on a chilly night.

The Ref is just covering himself really just in case it freezes.

He doesn't want to be the one to get Boston over here & then have it called off later, plus, don't we have to pay Boston's travel
costs & hotel if we allowed them to travel only to call it off later ?

So did we want the game on or not?

Not if it's going to cost the club £1000 in Hotel, coach hire , fuel etc etc to pay Boston.

The club were desperate to play the game, and had people on standby to clear the pitch, as soon as it was given the nod.I would think the ref who is inspecting it holds the decision to what time he can come, and with the snake pass and woodhead both being closed, Boston faced an extended journey as well as the poor weather on that side to contend with, maybe he said half nine.
