Altrincham FC First Team / Colour Clash
« on: August 09, 2015, 10:09:20 AM »
I thought that yesterday there was a colour clash with FGR keeper wearing a florescent Green strip against the predominantly lime out players green kit, especially when their defenders had their backs to the wall defending in the sun - not thta they had to defend that much yesterday.

I thought the first half was 50/50. Second half FGR decided the long and very high ball was the way to go and stopped us trying to play football. Their keeper's kicks were higher than those of Willie Le Roux. Even their own fans said it was awful. I knew we would eventually get caught with a cross in the box as eventually one would find Parkin. However I give credit to Mash and Luca for dealing with most of them. I hope we have a plan to counter the tactics of the teams at the bottom unlike last season. I agree we miss Nicky as he our most creative player and always worries defenders.

I agree Jim. Whatever else happens let's stick to our strengths.

                  Coburn/Deasy
            Havern.   Leather/Marshall
Densmore.                                    Griffin
                   Richman      Moult
 Crowther.            Lawrie.              Clee

                         Reeves

Will (kinda) see us right this year. Yes clear room for improvement buts let's remember we were clearly good enough for this league last year and clocked off early. A poor start last year coat us points against bottom 8 teams, nothing to lose in the first six weeks this year.

I'd prob go Havern/Leather this year as they're class and all said and done we'll not go far wrong with them two.

At the end of the day (which it is) we've got the highest gates we've had for years and in a months time are at home to Tranmere Rovers.

Up the Robins!!

So all the new players are not as good as last year's side?

Couldn't have been worse for me.
I am away on our family holiday (the first proper family holiday we have had in 6 years) from 15th to 30th Aug.
On those 3 Saturdays we play our 2 closest clubs away and the other is the one home fixture I was really hoping to get to this season.
Plus I doubt there will be trains to get to and from Birkenhead from hear over that Christmas holiday.
They will be trains to Birkenhead on the 28th December provided there is no engineering works or industrial action. Just no trains on Boxing Day for some bizarre reason.

They will find somewhere along route to do engineering works as it is a public holiday. A couple of years ago we went to a rugby match at Reading on that day and drove because of engineering works between Wokingham and Reading. I crawled along the M25 and what is about an hour journey took 3 hours - my Mrs was furious with me.
I missed the Burton FA Cup match because trains from here take 5h30mins on Sundays and 3 hours on Saturdays! :(

I don't think Roy was having a go at us in particular. Nice to know that he thinks of us!
Unless he is upset that his favourite terrace spot at Moss Lane has been replaced by the new community hall.
However it is nice to get free publicity from one of the finest players that ever graced English football arenas.
Maybe the club should send him an official invite as he lives within walking distance of Moss Lane, and a free pass to 'Glare'. ;)

There was a nice long article in the programme from last Saturday's match between Ireland and Scotland remembering Fionan as an ex-Irish international as well as his Dad, Jack who played in the first ever Republic of Ireland team.
They also mentioned that Fionan went on to be player manager of Altrincham.
R.I.P.

His displays inToulon can only be doing him a world of good.Wonder if we would get a cut of the transfer  fee should he move to another premier league club.

I'd be disappointed if we didn't have a clause like that in place.

I don't think that there would be a big transfer fee for a player that is not established in a first team.
I understood that we started putting sell-on clauses in every sale since the early 1970's.

The clubs new to the division normally do ok I think both the teams from the north will stay up with ease dont know much about the southern sides but they did better last year macc will do ok they have money they just claim not to

Like Telford who came up with us ?
I think you are right about Macc.

Not sure why we are favourites to go down, but we did have a bit of a bad end to the season.

I think there will be several poor sides next season, not just teams new to the division but those in financial difficulty. Down at the bottom I expect to see Borehamwood, Guisley, Kiddy and Gateshead. Lets throw Macc into the equation as we don't know what goes on there, even though their half-bakes fans think they are a big club. I am not taking into account what may go on in the AGM Cup.

I fancy Wrexham to be champions.

We will get replacements so the squad doesnt worry me, but these players brought in need to be first team players not sub calibre.

I totally agree and this is the best comment on this forum for ages.

I was at the match and I didn't think it was a great game, particularly in the second half.
Great atmosphere and a record attendance for a Conference play off final. I think all Conference clubs do get a cut of the profit fro the match.
I didn't think the ref was that bad apart from his decision to give a yellow card to the Rovers keeper for handling outside the box - which is a Red card. If he didn't think it deliberate hand ball then he shouldn't have given a free kick. I was talking to a Rovers fan after the match who thought he was awful.
I would have preferred a trip to Bristol next season.

Someone needs to do it all in the aid of fun , if you have to goggle the answer please don't ruin it for others its quite sad and makes you look like a foolish macc fan

feel free to ask own questions after the question asked has been answered ...

Question 1. Who has scored more goals past Liverpool than any other player ?

I think this should have been worded :- Who has scored the most goals past Liverpool AT ANFIELD than any other player?

Glad to see Guiseley up at last but would have preferred Whitehawke.

Borehamwood is nearer to Barnet than the Hive is!!!!
