Stalybridge game at Moss Lane on Saturday!
« on: March 23, 2017, 01:30:06 PM »

Stalybridge Celtic's game against Worcester City is now being played at Moss Lane on Saturday. I know their game was called off very early on Tuesday, but Bower Fold must be in a bad way as I type this in the sunshine.

It is neighbourly of us, and I think this must prove to even the most optimistic of happy clappers we are not fighting  a relegation battle against either of these teams.

We are more concerned in accommodating everyone else but ourselves. They should be playing on a Thursday night in April. The final signal that staying up has been given up on by the club.

I imagine our Football Development Officer had something to do with that.

I will be surprised if they play at "home" again for a while. Their pitch was a complete mess after a rugby match was played on it last Saturday.

It'll be a landmark for two teams who are as bad as us to grace our pitch.

How very true, and sad.

I must confess that I do find it somewhat bewildering that our Football Development Officer, one Neil Tolson Esq., also happens to be on the current coaching staff of one of our rivals in this division.

Isn't this rather a potential conflict of interest?

I think for clarity sake we should be told how much money it will make the club. By which I mean rental fee, not the fact people will use the bar.

Because really we could do with both these teams being inconvenienced rather than accommodated.

So I'll wait for that information I think, as otherwise I fear our lovely friendly club hierarchy are still as far away from reality as always.

There's more than simply money for the reason the likes of Stevenage are knocking on the door of league one and demolishing Portsmouth while we're heading for ale house football. Soft underbelly. We should be doing everything possible to not finish bottom, everything.

You mean there's something possible ? I'll be buggered if I can see it. We will finish bottom because we frankly deserve to.

Firstly there are no dates available to rearrange fixtures at the Bower Fold if the season is to finish on time

Secondly our Football Development Officer had nothing to do with this - It is a Secretary Level communication as will be any other conversations Stalybridge may have this season with the likes of Hyde (reportedly their preferred choice), Harrogate, Curzon Ashton etc.

Don't go looking for big sticks to beat the Club with I'm sure more than enough have been manufactured recently
