Must be some kid on duty at the Halifax courier today, he makes it sounds has the consortium just need to pay the administrators £50 and they will
reform and not start from scrath  ???, and start off where they finished, so what was last week all about, stories like this is not fair to the Halifax fans who have suffered enough. Its simple pay the HMRC in full or they will close you down. The meeting of the conference is not been specially put on to discuss Halifax, it was a planned meeting to decide all matters including which Conference North clubs drop to the Conference South.
The second point the report failed to mention was that the Conference deadline for clubs to be out of administraion and be eligible to be included in the conference has already passed.
There is another example of creative journalism mentioned on the Barrow Forum, the headline was top players to leave !, when infact manager Dave Bayliss said some players will be leaving and some new players arriving.

But have we been told OFFICIALLY we are in the BSP next season. Seems to me there's plenty of confirmations of Fax's ubnfortunate demise, but nothing saying we are definately in. Until I hear that, even unfounded rumours like this are worrying,

even if we were in the BSN (which is where we were 4 years ago.......

we'd still be more famous than you

Never fear though....there is no way the conference would alow a club to come out of administration by allowing the club to be liquiditaed and then recycling the name and the lease on the ground (which isn't owned by the club/administrator anyway).
If anything this'll see them in counties football.

Breaking news: Football Conference discussing Halifax Town's future

The Football Conference is this morning (Wednesday) discussing the future of Halifax Town.

Because the club has not yet been liquidated following the failure of its administration proposals it technically still exists.

The consortium funding the club have approached the Conference with a view to reforming the club rather than starting from scratch.

Whether that is possible remains to be seen with football rules and legal hurdles to overcome.

If it is possible, the club could start next season in the Football Conference rather than dropping down the league pyramid, and would involve the consortium paying a sum of money to the administrators for the company's assets.

Mike Appleby, league manager for the FA, said he was aware of a submission to the Conference board which is meeting now.

"We will be clearer today as far as the Conference is concerned," he said.

If the consortium's plans can't be progressed and the businessmen decide they don't wish to run a club in a lower league an alternative application to form a new club by Halifax Town Supporters' Trust will come into play.

Mr Appleby said the 22 clubs playing next season in the Northern Premier League Premier Division (Unibond League) will be known later today.

It is unlikely that will be increased to 23 to accommodate a Halifax club but space does exist in the NPL First Division due to restructuring.

Next season the division will be increased from 18 teams to 20 teams and that is the likely place for a new Halifax team - provided games can be played at the Shay.

Mr Appleby said whichever of the two groups have access to the Shay will be in the driving seat and the consortium currently has access as the lease is with Halifax Town.

"If the trust could not have access to the Shay they would have to look at the North Counties East League but we are not in that position and no final decision will be made on Halifax yet," said Mr Appleby.

For a Halifax team to start next season all the problems will have to be sorted by the middle of next month.

Trust chairwoman Pam Burton has put her faith in the consortium.

"I would hope the consortium can do what they want to do," she said.

"My understanding is there will be a football team."

So it's all up in the air then.

I assume from what that says that the consortium are saying they are still willing to do a deal with someone (including the league) if they are allowed to stay up but not if the Conf insist on relegation to the unibond.

Unless they pass the lease to the trust, a fans club would have to play elsewhere than the shay in the NE counties.

Is that correct?

They are trying to blackmail the conference into letting them stay in the league. It will be interesting to see what will happen as a conference official insisted that the normal rules would be followed. Although I think we all know they will bend them as far as possible.

Unless they make a definite decision now (i.e. if this drags on until the AGM), Halifax really are putting all their eggs in one basket - so if the prospective backers DO leave the fans in the lurch over there, there'll be no time to form a fans club next year, will there?

Is that what you meant by the 'blackmail' thing moousee?

So they don't liqudate then...what about the debt?

There is no cva in place so what happens with that?  Its still owed and someone will apply to wind them up surely?

Fantastic. You are telling me that the conference will now say:

Ok guys, you blew 2 million quid staying in the BSP, but dont worry we deducted 10 points for that. What we can let you do is just start a new club, a clean slate if you like.

So basically any club can spend as much as they like, go into administration, and then reform as a new club at a cost of 10 points a season.

Now you can see it however you like, but i'm not sure even the conference are stupid enough to create this safety net for every overspending club in the land.
