My head says Chelmsford but I would prefer one of the other three.
Am I correct that Chelmsford are owned by the cash cow that deserted Canvey Island?

Personally Hampton would do for me....20mins on the train...but it annoys me regarding ground  gradings as The Beveree is actually even worse than Histon. It is just too small and one way in/out to host proper football.

I had similar thoughts, nice wee set up but no conference ground by a long chalk. However the Beaver Bar is a must for all fans.

For me:

Hayes & Yeading [UB3 2LE] :   15 miles
Hampton & Richmond [TW12 2BT] :        25 miles
Eastleigh [SO50 9HT] :      71 miles
Chelmsford [CM1 2EH] :      67 miles

I have been to Chelmsford - it is also an Athletics stadium - the final of the English Schools Cup was held there 2 years ago.  St Ambrose were there, which surprised me (I don't remember it being a sporting hotbed back in my day) and Millfield School came in the Forest Green team coach!

Ironically, AFC Wimbledons ground is co-located with an athletics stadium (been loads of times to that one) and, obviously so is Gateshead (only been there to watch Alty win)

as noted elsewhere it is breaking conference grading rules and as such should be denied promotion

If that is the case I assume they would be obliged to give certain assurances that their ground will be up to spec within a given time period (like Lewes).

For me it should be more strict. If your ground isn't good enough you don't come up - simple as that! We could all play on a park pitch and spend all our income on the playing budget but it just doesn't work like that.

It does seem a bit harsh though. There are plenty of grounds that are perfectly passable yet deemed unsuitable for the Conference.

As always with the Conference it comes down to a complete lack of consistency.

However, if the rules were applied correctly across the board I would like to see a bigger stand taken against clubs who blatantly channel all their finances into assembling expensive squads whilst letting their stadia and infrastructures go to the dogs. For their OWN sake as much as anything else.

this is the point
i dont care whether they have ground criteria or not so long as everyone is safe, but you cant demote kings lynn for not having their ground up to scratch in time and then ignore the fact that hampton are breaking the rules tooo. they have been given time to change but havent done it.
