Singing on Saturday
« on: April 24, 2007, 02:56:35 PM »

Hopefully we'll get the big turnout we're hoping for on Saturday and the atmosphere to go with it. This means we're also likely to have a lot of potential singers who are not regulars but will get behind the lads vocally. It is therefore essential that we keep the songs relatively simple and also relatively inoffensive where possible. If we want people to join in and sing up there's no point expecting them to sing a song with words they don't know.

Sing loud, stand proud and roar the lads home!!!!

Fair point Jim but I know what he's getting at. Songs that promote the abundance of "t*ts, f*nny" etc in Alty are all very well and good but they are not exactly family friendly. Also, I hate Macc and Northwich as much as the next man but sometimes it's better to concentrate on pro-Alty songs rather than songs which heckle other teams or fat opposition supporters etc.

i know. lets contact someone with a laminator, and put up words to the songs on the stand supports, get them laminated therefore rainproof. This means we can sing anything we like and everyone will be able to join in.

You sure that's a good idea? Add extra tension on to the players? (And the fans)

I don't think we should, Hucknall did this 2 years ago and I think it affected our players, didn't matter in the end, but their performance dipped.

We need to win, we know that, and the players know that so it's as simple as that.

Is it allowed to announce scores over the PA as the game goes on? Did think it was wonderfully quaint and very non league that day at Hucknall, but by the time Southport had got their 5th at Harrogate (God those days seem so so long ago now) it was pretty obvious that the game was a sideshow to most people.

Christ do not announce the scores that would be a disaster - who is it likely to help - wont help the alty players at all - BAD IDEA.
