Looks like we are going 4-5-1 again with Lane holding and Col running the line on his own.  I would have liked to have seen Senior start wide right instead of Toulson though!  :-[

I agree. After a good start Toulson has gone a bit quiet of late.

Is Coburn in nets?

OK thanks, I found what you are talking about, but they have no live match audio from any games today, just match reports to follow. The link I think you are talking about is out of date (date on there says 28/9/2007) and the file no longer exists (hence the error).

GH does not understand 4-4-2 away from home. In some ways I wish our approach at Torquay hadn't worked, because it has encouraged us to do it in every single game. Can anyone seriously see us scoring? Perhaps Mr. Woodward will take pity on us...

We are too far into the season to play for safety first and hope for a draw. Draws are absolutely useless for us from hereon in, but I can't see Heathcote changing his tactics as he's too set in his ways. Think we really need to be more adventurous and this can be done with some degree of defensive work with a 4-4-2.

Looking bad for us really, but things can change. We need to start winning....and quickly.

Teams like Grays see our teamsheet, guess our formation (I believe they'd even done this before today!) and think, 'this team aint going to score in a month of Sundays. Let's batter them from the outset, so we can relax later on.' It's all so predictably bollox.

He'll bring Senior and Roca on when he's very, very desperate (probably when we are two down) and then come out and say, 'What do you expect us to do away from home against teams as well-resourced as Grays?' Everybody knows the mantra now by heart. I hate criticising a guy who has single-handedly produced miracles to get us into this league, but I think we've now seen enough. How predictable was the no shots at all statistic?

I agree with quotes with regards to playing a defensive game, at this point in the season we should be going at teams and not just trying for a draw!

Why GH doesnt play Roca from the outset I dont know, he could just prove to be the sting in the tail!

He could have done the same with Logan and who knows!?

Never mind Mick Woodward appointing himself as the Grays manager, it's beginning to look like he could have picked himself to play in goal against us this afternoon and it wouldn't have affected the result!

I wouldn't say that yet. Only a point behind Farsley and Halifax and although they have games in hand who knows what dramas could unfold between now and the end of the season. A season in the BSN would be good fun though Look at all the people we'd be playing.

No, but I reckon it's what most of us are at least secretly thinking. At the very least the situation looks dire.....whilst there are games left there is hope, however forlorn.

Support when at the games is what is required, but that doesn't stop us having our moments of despair whilst not there (and for those of us who can only follow on the net it's even worse...IMHO).

Nor is it for me, it's a game of pride and effort, to give your maximum effort and have pride in being the best you can be!  To have the attitude of "oh it will be quite nice winning against teams we know we can beat in the league below" is a defeatist attitude, it amazes me how as a fan you can want this?   ??? :-\

Seriously, on what evidence do you base your assumption that we would be winning away fixtures at the likes of Southport, Telford and Stalybridge?

By your logic, we would be better off playing in the Wythenshawe Sunday League, where we might win the odd game and you wouldn't have to travel far to watch us.

I want us to stay up, but I can understand where UC is coming from on this. Can we really say that it has been fun playing in this league. Even Gh has said that he has not enjoyed it. The idea that we might actually win from time to time and for the game to be played somewhere we can actually get to, is strangely appealing. Nevertheless, like Longman says, as a club we must strive to play at as high a level as possible - even if that means we will never be competitive. Would Derby have swapped playing Man Utd today, for Preston?
Title: Re: Today's game

I didn't say we'd be guaranteed winning at those places, but i'd rather watch the team winning than losing. If relegation means the club finds it's true competitive level then so be it.

But what would be the point of winning games in the BS North then?

Would we decline to be promoted if we won the league or the play-offs?

You're being pedantic. Let me try and explain this more simply. I would gain more pleasure watching Altrincham win a BSN game at Stalybridge than losing a BSP game at Oxford. Got it now?

For those of you thinking we will be better off going down just take a look at the bsn table the likes of tamworth who we could,nt beat are stuck in the bottom half along with boston [although thats what they deserve].there are no gaurantees of ever getting back up.i would much rather be picking scraps up in this league and hanging by the skin of our teeth than going down.that said i think gh needs to take a good look at his selections and tactics as has already been mentioned anywhere else and he would be out of a job.

As a club, it is better we stay up. As fans and as individuals, we are entitled to crave for local games against traditional rivals. That said, I hope and pray (more appropriate) that we stay up. A complete contradiction I know, but middle ground at least! ;)

Taking Halifax, Farsely and Northwich out of the mix, Weymuff are  1 point behind with 4 games in hand. Not unreasonable to think they'll get no more than 3 points which puts them 2 points infront level games. Who wouldn't fancy going there last game of season needing a win to stay up?

Lots of points at stake between now and then but I'd take that senerio now.
