Altrincham FC First Team / Re: SINNOTT MUST CHANGE THINGS NOW !!
« on: August 31, 2011, 10:22:21 PM »
Oh come on.

Seriously, after last seasons' full of abject performances and inevitable relegation who was thinking we would win this league? We are a big name in this league and teams will raise their performance against us.
Weve not really got the quality to bounce straight back up. (if signing cast offs from BSP clubs will enable us to compete in the BSP someone needs to look again). weve got 16 players plus youngsters, so we dont have the depth to tinker with the squad (thats what pre-season is about).

This season is about looking what is available in this league and then looking to finance a push next season with the better players we come up against.

We'll end up mid table (8th -13th) this season.

Guernsey away would be a nice weekend.

Forgot guernsey would be in it. Unlucky for which ever non-league outfit gets them away, unless Guernsey has to pay for transport in the cup competitions as well.

Hope we manage to get a decent run.

I think its an interesting idea.

The lower deck has a capacity of 20-30, allowing the 30-40 upper to filled by players. Unless the gaffer is screaming his head off at the players, the supporters would be unlikely to hear anything.

Seems it would be cheaper to run it in this way, thus saving the club some cash it can spend on players.

Afterwards, the supporters could have a nice pint in the bar at Workington or Bishop Stortford before the journey back.

May not work with us, due to the number of fans we take by coach.

he's off to Kos. Very nice place to go. Maspalomas is very nice, quite a lot of lovely little beaches around too. May even take in a trip to turkey.

He could also bump into a guy (who knows a guy) who will come and bang in 40 next season.

if only!!

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: who was.......
« on: June 09, 2011, 04:01:13 PM »

For a purely financial reason, I am going for Ian Craney.

shirley for financial reasons it would be Kevin Ellison. 50K ++?? (isnt that the most we've received for a player?)

for the modern age, i think Little for his goals, or Coburn for his 509 (and counting) appearances.

Sorry to bang on about this again, and I am entirely and totally aware of the current financial situation and the restrictions it places on us.

However, I see from the Official Site that Theo Kidd has moved on, presumably because he's now too old for the Youth Team and we have nowhere for him to go which would enable us to keep him at the Club.

He's a talented lad and maybe one who could have done a job for us off the bench next season

Main problem we have is no reserve team. The kids need the nurturing a reserve league would give them, in addition to playing under the "Altrincham" banner. Throwing them in at full squad level may hurt them in the long run.

Its a shame, as some of the kids seem to have a lot of potential.

Altrincham FC First Team / Tamworth appoint Law
« on: May 25, 2011, 11:27:55 AM »
Tamworth have appointed Kettering's Law as their new manager.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/t/tamworth/9496197.stm

Kettering are rumoured to appoint LADAK as interim boss, in their quest to remain in the Conference. Kettering are still mulling over whether the merge with Rushden & Diamonds. And are still searching for a new ground.

Altrincham FC First Team / Tamworth lose appeal regarding keeper
« on: April 29, 2011, 08:33:09 PM »
Tamworth had appealed the Conference's decision not to allow them to sign an emergency keeper, due to injuries to their current duo.

The conference decision (surely without Mr Peake's intervention??) decided Tamworth would not be allowed to sign a keeper for their final game against FGR.

Apparently, the FA have upheld this decision, and Tamworth will play their relegation decider with an outfield player between the sticks.

Lump on FGR to win then...

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Disgrace!!

The main problem for any capping, are the likes of Crawley, Fleetwood, Chelsea, Man City and others who have benefactors willing to put large sums of money into teams. Even Fulham wouldn’t be able to sustain premiership football, if they were capped to income generated, rather than what Al-Fayed puts in. Though as Rushden, Boston and Altrincham showed, when the money man is no longer willing to put the money in, the club suffers badly through lack of income streams to support their on-field squad.
I think there is a big difference between clubs like Rushden and us losing the money men, compared to Boston, Chester, Scarbrough and Halifax’s poor financial management. I think it is this poor financial management that the FA can do far more to govern finances. For example, ensuring key liabilities are paid (wages & tax). Non-payment of these should mean a points deduction. There is no point having a squad if the club cannot afford it (it is effectively cheating). In addition, all clubs should have to file monthly accounts with the FA to ensure any losses are guaranteed by the directors.
Though a business will only function if they have some sort of credit facility for other suppliers. In addition, problems occur when the weather means the club has no income for a number of weeks. As our former goalkeeper states, even not paying these suppliers can adversely affect other livelihoods. As such, increased checks on the accounts of a club should show a team in potential trouble, and trigger a warning to get their house in order. Failure to do so should lead to points deduction.
Problem is that most of the clubs in millions of debt are in the Premiership, having either run up large loans of purchasing players, or having debt placed on the business as part of a takeover.  As such, the FA may be unwilling to increase the regulation on football teams.
The HMRC nowadays only accepts less than 100% of the debt in unusual cases. The taxman got annoyed when they were taken off the preferred creditor list. The club can only force a CVA through if the tax debt is less than 25% of the value of all creditors (75% of the value of the creditors are needed to make the payment plan legally binding).

I thought new rules were brought in that effectively means if you go into Administration after the end of the season, you get chucked out anyway??

Isnt this the way Northwich were treated?

Altrincham FC First Team / The Last Stand
« on: April 25, 2011, 04:58:55 PM »
Right, were still in it till saturday. The remaining games are:

Alty v Eastbourne; Alty need to win
FGR v Tamwuff; draw means both cannot be caught by alty
Kettering v Southport; Kettering need to win

If FGR, Tampax and Southport all draw, Alty will need to win by 20 clear goals to stay up..

we need two of FGR, Tammy and southport to lose (and us to win) in order to stay up.

Its bloody possible!!!

C'mon lads, just one more game to go. :o
