Got promoted and if they get promoted to the confernce national and got to football league 2 before we do we will never hear the end of it
-
They will get to League 2 before we do (if we ever do it wont be in the next 10 years) but who cares its hardly a level playing field.
-
They have took 5 years to get out of that leauge they are only up now because any half decent side got promoted they run out of teams that were better than them
-
Tinpot club. I'd be more concerned about Salford City in the longer term.
-
Non are a concern to me I was pointing out how long it took for them to get promoted
-
If their play-off final against Hednesford the year before Hednesford came up to join us in the Conference North is anything to go by they will get relegated next year. They were abysmal. I personally believe they have hit their natural level and this promotion exceeds it slightly. I reckon they'll be just outside the playoffs next year as an unknown quantity but then consolidate at mid table as they'll have lost the element of surprise and their ground will it generate the required revenues to make a mighty push upwards.

ARSED
-
I think you will find they will get a new cash injection that will enable them to buy a new team and the same will happen at Salford City on the lines of Fleetwood and Crawley.
-
They'll be in their own ground next season which will do wonders for their playing budget. No doubt they'll be able to attract some good talent for that level, half of their squad is already capable enough to compete in the Conference North as it is.
-
Don't forget the revenue from their unique and completely un-derivative merchandising brand.
-
I'm far more interested in whether Blyth Spartans can gatecrash the playoffs on the final day by beating Marine at home, while Ilkeston fail to win at Nantwich. They actually DESERVE a promotion.

;D

well done to both clubs on promotion.
-
To be honest, I just cannot wait for another article by David Conn in the Guardian on fan owned
Chester Wrexham Telford Wimbledon FCUM.
It's not so much their success that's annoying (it isn't in any way).
-
well done to both clubs on promotion.
Well done Bristol city on promotion if we are congratulating random clubs on promotion

Bath City season ticket holder Ken Loach's take on FCUM.

Indeed! :)
Congratulations Bromley, the league table doesn't lie, etc, etc. :)

just waiting for fcum to float and be bought by some yank....
when they get into the conference or even the conf N they'll start to face all the things they said they were against.....
and their sanctimonious our way is best preaching about trust run clubs makes me sick.....ironically it would be possible for 5,000 city fans to join their trust and then vote to close it down....that's democracy!

My concern with FC United is that they are now at a level where they may have a major impact upon our ability to recruit players.
Once they move into their own ground and generate revenue for themselves (as opposed to Bury or Stalybridge), I expect they will be able to assemble a better squad by paying better wages and maybe one good enough to be knocking on the door of the Conference. The 'band-wagon' starts again in August after 5 years of 'treading water' and as such they may be a more attractive prospect than us from a players perspective.
There is some sense in the argument that the sooner they make the FL the better.

not on this forum anyway
To be honest I'm not arsed

Excellent JTH ;)
-
We care already competing with Halifax, Southport, Guiseley, Barrow and a whole host of others for players. I can't see FC United making any difference. Their biggest problem is getting their member supports to agree the kind of admission price increases they are going to need to compete effectively.

Just to put their glorious victory on Tuesday evening into some sort of context, I note that the Stourbridge team contained the quasi-legendary Brian Smikle:

Tut tut Barry ! The team INCLUDED Smikle.....FC United probably CONTAINED him with minimum difficulty ;)

Is Chris Lynch their captain?

Is Chris Lynch their captain?
I do believe that Dean Stott is their captain.

Brand wise they're head and shoulders about 95% of clubs, but having said that they began in the modern era and have a narrative to tell so it'd be a major concern if they didn't have a strong brand and merchandise department
Easiest gig in the world for FC UTD branding department
