What is the Oldest Altrincham FC Shirt you own ?
-
It's a red and white stripped one with nothing on it apart from an umbro badge.
Can't tell you what year it was because I'm rubbish at stuff like that, but I'm sure someone can, perhaps around 1990?
I think it was the first one you could buy (at least while i've been watching).
-
I've got (stolen off my daddy) 2 old shirts, one from an England semi-pro game in the early 1980s worn by John Davison (ok not an actual Alty shirt) and a yellow Alty away shirt worn by Graham Barfrom around 1979/1980.
-
Got a kids size "Holts Builders Merchants" one, must be about 94-5? Bought it for my daughter when she was about 3 but she refused point blank ever to have anything to do with it. My son, born a couple of years later wore it a bit until he discovered other football teams existed. Well I did try!
He now has a bigger range of shirts than JJB sports.

When we won the title at Gravesend in 79-80, the players threw their shirts to the crowd at the end. I got John Connaughton's goalie's shirt, the old fashioned green. Got mistaken and tw*tted at Northwich the following Monday night in the cup final by an Alty fan after it went off a bit when Kingy missed his penalty, all cos I had a green shirt on!!
-
That's the game my yellow shirt was from!
-
Don't remember being in yellow at Gravesend but thinking we must've been, as they play in red. I don't still have my shirt, that's tidy minded mothers for you. No sense of propriety!
-
My main Alty shirt is the Holts one. It's a classic. They've even got one in a frame in the Shop. It's got a nice big collar, which is great for stopping the back of the neck getting sunburnt when sat in the beer garden!

so, what's yours?

Well, mine went to various charity shops when I moved house. The only one I can find here is a Maunders one, which is why I thought I'd ask the question.
no idea what happened to my Black and Yellow Tottenham one, I loved that top. Seemed you either loved or hated that kit and I love it.
-
What's the worst Alty kit you can remember, I never liked the black and red checked one, or the grey we wore at York in the FA cup 4th round. Didn't we once have a Croatia style red and white check once too? Seem to recall it was the year the programme front cover was designed by some schoolkid, it was terrible.
-
The worst had to be the the bright orange shirt with white shorts. As far as I can remember this was only ever worn once in the away game at Frickley. I don't know why it was needed as Alty's red and white hardly clashed with Frickley's blue.
The result was a 3-0 defeat in an embarrassingly stagnant performance which didn't auger well for the Lancaster Cup replay the following Tuesday. Fortunately the shirts were consigned to history and Lancaster got a thumping.
-
carol nash 97? shirt. did have the explosion in a paint factory goalie shirt from maunders years but it went 2 uganda
-
Orange one was worn at FGR - hence the chant "You're just a team of stewards" by our Gloucestershire friends
-
Can't have been the same season's shirt though. I'm thinking of 2001/02.

yellow and black away maunders top, yurgh!

rubbish.... absol brilliant top.
-
That was a promotion winning away top. Has to be the best!
-
Black polo shirt from about 6 years ago with the club crest on it and a Hillcrest homes home shirt.
-
I am privileged to possess Mal Bailey's Alty shirt from the FA Cup tie against Spurs at White Hart Lane in 1979.
-
Cult of - you are a privileged person! I hope you've got it framed and insured?
UC - It was the same season - when we were in the Conf last time, Uncle Globby, JTH and Rocky Robin will remember?
-
I thought the yellow & black Maunders one - as seen on Baddie; & Skinner'sFantasy Football - was a classic. We could do worse than bring that one (and its red & white counterpart) back. maybe it will get us a 3rd round tie against Spurs again!
-
the red and white one was nice but its just the colours of it urgh its messy!

We were at Frickley in 2001/2002 in the Unibond.

Some how the Idols have the full first team kit that was used in the Spurs game, no idea where it came from, smells a bit funny though!

I bought the 93/94 Maunders home shirt (Umbro). I'm sure it was when the club sold the ex-players shirts from that season. Got No. 14 on the back. Maunders badge is sewn on.
I also invested in a replica Paul Collings goalie top from 94/95? Absolutely horrific colours (bright yellow, red, pink, green) splattered all over it. Again Maunders accross the middle.
I also liked the black and gold strip. If Ian Senior is reading this - let's have a similar one back for next season! :D
-
Doesn't black and gold strip sound much better than yellow and black

I second that!!!!!!
-
if you get the black and yellow kit i want the carole nash one! now that was a fit top! plus with the tapere bottom on them theres space for another shirt sponsor, more money!!!
-
Ahh, good choice! That was the first Alty shirt I got!
-
my second but first outfield top got it on the day of the preston match, was the best thing ever wore it non stop when i was away from school, i was only ten by the way
-
One of my favourite away tops was the darker blue from I, think 99-00, or poss the season before. Relegation year though I think. Classier blue though than the traditional light blue.
Remember Alty's away kit in the early 70's being sky blue shirts with dark blue shorts, so the current away kit has a base in history it seems.
What other away colours have we had, I recall yellow and blue, yellow and black, the dark blue mentioned above, the grey kit at York, didn't we wear white at Anfield? Someone mentioned orange earlier but I don't think I ever saw that one.
-
Yep, got that one: From the "You've Been Tangoed" collection!
-

Errrr, my memory is very sketchy indeed. I was not driving and we were travelling in a mobile bar being driven in a determined (and quite possibly demented) fashion by JTH if I remember correctly. Perhaps my memory of said game is sketchy because I was traumatised or perhaps because of the sheer volume of intoxicants consumed or perhaps because I've got middle-aged dementia......I can remember the mantra for the day....."ooo arrrrr we're in Gloucestershire".....etc, etc.....RR kept a video diary of the day's events
-
I hated the 70's sky blue change kit (they weren't away kits back then - the rule in the FA Cup was, back then, if there were a colour clash the HOME team changed their kit, unless both sides agreed otherwise). We always played crap in sky blue and I NEVER saw us win. Whereas for the sky blue away kit we wear now, I've never seen us w....oh! It's becoming clearer now1
Also Alty Idols have the Spurs kit? Remarkable coincidence: At the end of the seventies / early eighties Alty Supporters Club had the kit from the 1-1 draw at Spurs. I remember my pride as I pulled on Graham Tobin's shirt as I made my debut in the crushing 12-4 annihilation of Southport supporters club at Haig Avenue.
