Great to be back!  Thanks Gary.  We've missed some big wins and, Saturday's result, of which we shall not speak!

Extra frustrating in that I reckon we’d have got a result against them if the game had gone ahead in early January as scheduled.  We had a settled team at that point that still included Colclough, Conn Clarke and Mullarkey.

Dodged a bullet there….phew!!   Ref sounded poor…..we benefit from a “ghost “ goal there.

Sad news.  Definitely one of my greatest Alty players!  Will always remember his goal at Wembley in 78 and Kingy whipping his shirt around his head in celebration. R.I.P.

I liked Toby and I do wish him all the best with his future but I have always thought that he was not very well gifted with technical ability. I don't mean that he was completely without any vision or innovative skill, rather, that his never ending drive and effort is what defined him most of all.  He always seemed to give a minimum 101% effort and Alty fans love that characteristic.

Back in the day I remember an Alty player called Lennie Dickenson who played in the mid 70s and had a similar inspiring effect on the team of the time.  All  fellow 'Alty Codgers' will know who I mean.

I don't think that we have seen the end of Toby but I do suspect that we might find his name on the right hand side of the team sheet when he plays at Moss Lane in future.

.

I take your point around his technical ability prior to this season - he stood out like a sore thumb when we played him in defensive midfield - however he took a considerable step up in level this season, and has looked like one of our strongest players with the ball at his feet.

He's clearly a very bright lad, he learns, and he's an incredible signing for Rochdale. Hopefully we got a sell-on in there, because there's no reason why he couldn't go a bit higher - but his first mission will be to keep them in the Football League, which I'm sure he'll back himself to do.

My Dad had a great Alty story that featured the legend Lennie Dickinson.  Too long to tell here but with my Dad recently passing away seeing your mention of LD reminded me of his funny story

Hi SW.  I saw Dave Furnival play!  Wasn’t he a Les Rigby signing?

Really disappointed.  Was looking forward to this game before flying back to the USA tomorrow.  Never thought it might be off given the new pitch!  Anyone know if I can get online ticket purchase refunded?

I thought this was really good.  A great look at the set up at National League level.   If you've seen any of (the other) Phil Parkinson's ridiculous F bomb filled rants in the dressing room in Welcome to Wrexham this guy is way more measured and tactically aware.  Good stuff.

Harsh to concede so late, but you’d have definitely taken a point at 3pm.
