Can we do anything to stop the pitch freezing over the next few days? both the bbc and met check ar epredicting snow on monday and tuesday.

http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/7days.asp?zipcode=wa15%208ea

http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=3846

If we put covers on now, will it stop it freezing?

If we covered it tomorrow and it was gonna freeze it wouldn't stop it doing so.

If it snows then it is above freezing so won't freeze anyhow.

If we cover it we will then have to uncover it and any sub zero temperatures on Tuesday will start the freezing process.

All that Mr Rushton and his colleagues will be concerned about is the state of the pitch when they arrive on Tuesday and, given the weather forecast, the probability of it deteriorating sufficiently that we wont be able to finish

snow often acts as an insulator keeping warmth in so the ground might be ok, for me its how heavily it snows 60% chance of 10-20 cms

It's currently minus 2 outside my house and snowing like a bastard!

Agreed. Total white out here, pretty much unknown. Made first ever snowman with my son, hands now freezing and feel fed up.

Weather on Moss Lane tonight is currently 0c with no snow on the grass.

Stamford park is soft although you can feel the ground stiffening up slightly.

Staying positive  :)
