Altrincham FC First Team / Correct Me If I'm Wrong ?....
« on: April 09, 2010, 10:54:43 AM »
I know it makes sweet FA on the relegation outcome this season but having just read the news that Grays have been deducted 2 points for FIVE separate registration offences makes me wonder ?

When the infamous Alty points deduction was made for fielding an ineligible player signed from Accrington (through no fault of our own), were we not deducted all the points we won during those matches he played in ?

Having just checked Gray's record they amassed 4 points in those matches where the offences took place ?

Where's the consistency Mr Peake ?

Altrincham FC First Team / Where Did It All Go Wrong ?..........
« on: April 01, 2010, 10:44:37 AM »
according to the main website's 'Through the Years' link, Saturday's match marks the 101st anniversary of us beating at team called Newton Heath 6-0.  ;D

Whatever happened to them I wonder ?   ???

on a more personal level I also see it marks the 32nd anniversary of beating the mighty Great Harwood 2-0  :'(  :'(

Altrincham FC First Team / Lets Get Ready To Rumble ?..........

Taken from the main web site reporting on last night's meeting

The relationship with Manchester United was discussed, as their Reserves play at Moss Lane. Thanks to United, the pitch will be "earthquaked"; the undersoil will be shattered to aid drainage.

What's all this earthquaking ?  ??? I think we need to know ?

It'll be Tsunamis on the Bollin and looting in George Street next ?

Do we need to stock up on bottled water and bog rolls beforehand ?

For the past god knows how many years, we have been contributing to the Saturday Yankee.

Every other Wednesday night the door bell rings and muggins is instructed by 'she who must be obeyed' to answer the door and hand over the two quid - In all our years doing it we have never won a bloody sausage and it's always me that pays.

Imagine our surprise on Wednesday when I answer the door and are met with a 'Congratulations'...... !!  ;D

Yes !!! ........ I thought ............ £3,500 grand ???  ;D ;D

"Three of your four numbers have come up" our collector explains "you've won £28.60p" !   :( "But don't worry' the jackpot has still not been won and carries over to £4,000 plus next week !"

Oh well £28.60p is better than a kick in the teeth I'm thinking...  :)

He hands over the envelope with our winning cheque in.....  :)

and guess what ?................ ??? ??? ???

THE CHEQUE IS MADE OUT IN THE WIFE'S NAME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr  >:(  >:(

Altrincham FC First Team / TASC Website ?
« on: February 02, 2010, 08:45:33 PM »
I don't wish to have a go at the wonderful work done by TASC but the link from the official website leads through to a website that doesn't seem to have been updated since the middle of last year ?

The most recent fund raising event advertised is the golf day at Mobberley last July ?

and it doesn't tell you how you can join ?

Is this still active or should it be closed down ?

The same principle as the A B C game but this time the next person has to name a players begining with the last letter of the previous surname ?

Starting again this time with Stan ALLEN..... next up a current or ex player begining with 'N'

Over to you chaps and chapesses ?

Altrincham FC First Team / I'm Bored - How about a game of ABC ?
« on: January 08, 2010, 05:53:15 PM »
I don't know about the rest of you lot, but the lack of football action due to the current arctic conditions means I'm bored to tears.

How about a game of A, B, C to keep all you Robins fans going.

The idea is to keep the thread going by naming current or ex Altrincham players with surnames begining with letters in alphabetical order.

i.e The surname of the first player to be named begins with A, the next person has to then name a player whose surname begins with B, then C and so on ..

To start the ball rolling ... Richard ACTON ... next ??

Altrincham FC First Team / 100 Years at Moss Lane
« on: January 06, 2010, 09:00:40 PM »
Having just read on the website that 2010 sees the centenary of football at Moss Lane I was wondering if the club had any ideas of how they might capitalise on it and hopefully make a few bob into the bargain?

Anyone know what they have planned ?

Given that the other lot down the road in Trafford are also celebrating their centenary at Gold Trafford how about a special centenary match between the two?

or second best, Macclesfield as they were supposedly the first opposition to play at Moss Lane ?

or third best how about the bluenosed tenants from the Council House ?
