Title: Halifax - Match Thread
Post by: Mrs Warbouys on February 01, 2017, 02:22:12 PM
Alty 3/1
Draw 3/1
Halifax 6/10

----------------Deasey
Patterson---Cyrus--Hannigan---Brownhill
Newby-------Jones----Moult-------Clee
--------------Reeves----Owen

A 1-1 draw infront of one of the last four figure crowds at moss lane for a long time unless Kidderminster look like piping Fylde for the title near seasons end

How is Clee?  He wasn't in the squad for last night, so a bit worried  :'(

If he wasn't 100% it wouldn't have been good to jeopardise recovery for Saturday

2-1 loss Lynch and Sinnott scoring for Halifax

Watched the Halifax v County highlights and have to admit, from the bits he was involved in, Lynch looked pretty useful. I was one of his biggest critics but maybe he just needed a few decent players around him.

His comments on leaving, about senior players not pulling their weight, certainly had some substance when you think how woeful Moult, Lawrie and, to a degree, Reeves have been since Lynch left.

To a degree? He's the most senior at the club out of all that you've mentioned and he has been woeful this year. He should be leading from the front but he just doesn't seem to have the heart.

I gave Reeves some leeway based on the dreadful lack of service and support he's received this season.

1-5 defeat is the best I can see for Saturday I'm afraid.

Oddly this is one of the most dispiriting features for me (I guess it should be a positive or at least less of a negative). Aside from the 6 by Fylde (who are quite a high scoring team) and the chaotic first two games of the Harvey reign it's not like we are getting hammered.

We just seem to concede 2 or 3 sloppy goals every game no matter our level of performance.

your not wrong but then teams just seem to coast past us with no real effort and don't push on for the 4th and 5th

I think we will win a home game but not against a team pushing hard to stay in the playoffs, 3-1 or 2-0 Halifax.
BTW they were as bad as us last year when they went down, so we can see how far we have fallen - Thriving

None of the Yorkshire contingent were involved in the friendly on Tuesday. I wouldn't read anything into that other than giving them the night off.

Doesn't matter what formation we adopt, until we can defend as a unit we'll keep conceding soft goals.

Did wonder why we played a friendly on Tuesday and not 2 hours of attack v defense.

The incredibly sad thing is, I and many others have almost given up caring what the result is, I expect defeat and anything other than that barely even merits a slight raising of the eyebrow. The sooner the better this abomination of a season is over.

Whatever the rights or wrongs The club probably needs a new figure head to reunite and reignite the clubs very loyal, patient and generous support, especially those that have drifted away before they get to the point of no return. It's really sad but understandable when you see how many long time loyal supporters that were here through all the lean years have drawn a line in the sand.

I would go with 3 in centre mid of Moult just sitting in front of the back 4 and assisting the defence. Then I would go for Richman and Taylor.
I respect Jones's work rate but it sounds like he has gone off the boil in the last 2 games and I feel someone who runs and chases the ball down can leave gaps behind and if you only have one other centre mid then you are open to counter attacks.

Obviously Miller is still injured so I would then have Clee and Newby as the wide men but higher up the pitch to support which ever striker. I think we need 3 man mid to support the defence and not to be so bloody open.

I'm still going, and still dragging my son along - awaiting the call from Childline any day now.

Adeloye was utterly woeful against Fylde.

The only thing that he displayed there was a masterclass in the art of falling over at every opportunity.

Just tell him he's watching history unfold. I have friends and family over here who used to inquire/comment on Alty's results, but that has all stopped. I don't whether that is because they don't want to embarrass/upset me or that they have noticed that my mood no longer changes on a matchday, regardless of the result and have therefore assumed I don't care anymore.

If I was living over there, I would, like you, still be attending, but I also no longer care about who plays where this season. I will start caring again as soon as this season ends, but am hoping for some BIG changes in the meantime.

I had planned to come over for another few games this season and I may still make it over for one, but it would only be to meet up with people and apart from one or two most of them have stopped attending.

Funny you should mention that, Cult. Adeloye had an absolute nightmare against United Yoof on Tuesday for the same reason. MD & RL were getting very frustrated with him. He ended up going off injured, highly doubt he'll start on Saturday.

Adeloye may well be woeful, but I'm at least equally sick of the other 'striking' options.

Completely understand your sentiment, I think Andy Owens offers us a lot more though.

He has just been released ( see Club website ) for lack of effort ....so another one bites the dust!!

ill be inflicting more child abuse on the boy as he wants to watch again...he does hold the record in the house for watching the most wins this season though(cup match)

I suppose if he's happy watching this sham he will love it when we actually start winning games (next season)  ;D

There goes any chance of getting a result imo
Title: Re: Halifax - Match Thread
Post by: jhcorbett on February 04, 2017, 01:48:01 PM
There wasn't much chance of getting a result with Hannigan in the side anyway, it probably means we'll concede 3 soft goals in the first 20 minutes rather than the usual 2.
Halifax will then coast through the rest of the game and save their legs for when they next play a competitive side...

I'll still be going this afternoon for some reason (for a source of comedy if anything).

They didn't deserve the win nor did we.

The first half was an abomination of football from both sides.

We were much better 2nd half without creating any clear cut chances.

I'll walk out if I see Heatcote at right back ever again.

As for their keeper being mom. Really are taking the piss

I thought we deserved a point at least, you can see the rub of the green is against us. Thought all players gave 100% today.

If only we could have scored the penalty and had more fire power upfront.
