I was looking forward to seeing him at Old Trafford on Boxing Day. He was probably looking forward to that match even more. I shan't bother going to the game now.

Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery Duncan.

Thanks for all the nice messages re Duncan on here and Twitter etc. We saw the knee specialist tonight and he is confident he can rebuild the knee, but it will take time. So next season before he is back. But the support from Alty greatly helps.

Four players in last two weeks in PL - McNair, Bolasie, Wickham and Duncan - all have ACL injuries - bad luck? Or are we nearing saturation point of number and physicality/energy levels of games at the top level? I don't know. Fewer games not likely given TV revenues - maybe more subs? Interested in views...

Then, of course, we could have a winter break :)-

Good luck Duncan! Keep your chin up!

Its interesting all these injuries at this point in the season, with recent weather too. The demands on players has changed, but have all of the training and conditioning adapted? Right down to the way players are taught to run, jump, turn etc

Really interesting point, now all pitches are slick and very flat the game has increased in speed dramatically, quick turns are a must, not sure what can be done though seems a one way street, something in the boots might help
