Altrincham FC First Team / Re: York City Match thread
« on: November 13, 2022, 01:00:43 PM »
My mom was Toby Mullarkey , what a game he had and should keep Barrows on the subs bench.
I thought the eleven on the pitch were outstanding with special mention to a wonderful cross from jones and a superb finish from Newby.
I thought we didn’t get going for the first twenty minutes and stood a yard off , but once the belief came and the work rate was upped we were a positive looking team all over the pitch and gave York a tough night to reflect on.
Onward to Woking and to give them something to think about rather than the pretty passes at Wrexham.

Shocking inept performance last night, the same players making the same mistakes.
Colclough was by far our standout and most dangerous player.
The rest were inept as was the management performance.

I am not sure what we are trying to do when we are passing the ball side to side and backwards?

Wealdstone were clearly the better side and worked their socks off.

It was difficult to see those penalty shouts, and other than wishing the outcome we will decide whether the right or wrong decisions were made from the tv highlights.
Nevertheless we were very poor last night and changes need making.

After what seemed an age to get there, I reckon we did ok but we are a little lacking once we cross the half way line, having said that Wrexham worked really hard closing down and with those strikers it was a matter of time before they scored, and what a goal it was. If only we could have gone in one down at HT but a lack of concentration and dwelling on the ball and they were in for the second and game over.
Onward to Tuesday and Wealdstone.

Dinanga off and we play better if it wasn’t for stupid foul by the underperforming Osbourne we would have got that win.
We should have been 4 up at half time but for Dinanga.
Dreadful

I reckon there are 3 or 4 players in that team that need to up their game to win away at Torquay

Well done Alty, credit where credit is due.

Barring injury why would you not keep the same team?
Better tracking back to avoid the goal Gateshead scored other night.

Lots of effort last night from both teams, but as John Laidlaw suggested in his report “frantic and lack of composure” ( not sure what the match the reporter was watching on the main site).
All evidenced when Jones won the ball at full back in first twenty minutes and punted it 60 yards into an empty space.
Missed crosses abundant, poor distribution from defenders all night unable to find our own players. To be fair SC**thorpe worked hard in closing down high up the pitch but even they were poor. Obviously at HT SC**thorpe were told to move the ball quicker and justifiably went in front.
Kaja seemed to change the game when introduced with strong running and much stronger on the ball than Conn Clarke.
I doubt we can get more quality in this group of players in one season and unless a change in approach we are definitely looking at a difficult season.

As a shareholder myself, I am concerned the club has bitten off more than it can chew.
This is a strange initiative after so many other schemes recently.
I would like to think the club would issue a statement that takes the concern away.
I wouldn’t want us sharing the same league as Macc.

Not such a great game  (not sure if the ref had something to do with that),  both teams on that performance will be in the bottom half league) as Parky suggested it will be difficult)  They (MUFC)  could have been 2 up prior to our twenty minute spell either side of HT and we were unlucky not to score another goal. The sending off changed the game and I didn’t blame MUFC  for there time wasting after a poor decision by the very poor referee and even worse linesman, I really didn’t think he saw the incident, his decision on the penalty shout was mind boggling. We were poor against 10 men (something to work on at Knutsford).
The young lad Bennet had a good game for 60 minutes and faded(not unexpected)
The new LB needs to improve but maybe nerves were playing a part there.
Con Clarke might improve and pass the ball quicker but not necessarily the answer.
Our back two were great, Mullarkey isn’t a full back but find it hard to think he will shift either centre back.
Let’s hope the Welsh FA get their finger out quick.

This football club is bigger than any manager, yes it would be disappointing if the two managers went but how can anyone blame them when a rather large club come calling.
I assume they are under contract and therefore a compensation payment would be in order and Altrincham as footy club carry on and appoint a better manager and entourage team.
It’s not the end of the world, the board has set us up as a new beginning let’s get on with it with whoever.

From what I saw of the game it was a fairly routine win where we switched off after 60 mins, and let them back in, didn’t actually think they deserved what they got after some dodgy goal keeping by their keeper, but on the whole we deserved the win.
From a main stand viewing perspective not great, with all the movement kids running round people getting up out of their seats it was not great. The poor stewarding has to be a problem and an accident waiting to happen.
I’m all for getting kids into games but there must be a better way of supporting it.
As for the main stand turnstile not open, I cannot remember that happening ever ?
Shambles.

Woeful performance.
Not sure what Parkinson was trying from a tactical perspective?
Porter Moult and Fitzpatrick were very poor.
We have to start games better than that, in the first 20 minutes county were a yard quicker whilst we dithered in our own box.
Dreadful Parkinson.

RIP John
Whilst the home games were entertaining with John around it will be the away days that I will miss my friend John, whether Burton or Barrow, the trek back was always a lively discussion between the three of us in the car on the way home, usually on what went wrong or on occasion what went right, but first we had to know the Accies result.
John was Alty through and through, and like myself and Barry always wanted the good days to return to Alty.
Every Alty team that went onto the pitch was put up against the the good days when Alty were kings, he never understood why we weren’t up there and never wanted 2nd best.
His boisterous support was unwavering, always wanted the ball moved up the pitch quickly and some of the shouts from the Main stand such as “Route one” when we needed the ball in the opponents area with 10 mins to go, or “don’t panic” when we were unexpectedly winning, the one nil win at Doncaster springs to mind, the shout that I use to like and there were many was when the full timer / football league player fluffed his lines John would laugh out loud and shout “ What do you do all week” which always got a rise from the opposing Manager or usually the Assistant.
It’s a sad day, and I will miss my old friend.
RIP John

Parkinson’s interview should be good unless he leaves it to Neil Sorvel.
What’s the point in getting a season ticket when his team put in performances like that against “Real” Sutton, a little effort and concentration would be the minimum to ask for.
That was as embarrassing as the 5 0 against Fylde.
If we have give up on the season that’s fair enough but we should be competing.
