Indeed they were. Mr. Cyrus will be plying his trade in EvoStik 1 South next season (Frickley have been moved from N to S because of Ilkeston's demise).

I wonder what he makes of his one season with us. A season of such turmoil on and off the pitch, he is entitled to ponder how things would have worked out for him had we been stable. Oh well, good luck to him. Onwards...

Doesn't he come from Frickley? What it shows is that he's not chasing the money and wants to enjoy playing football again after the disaster with us. I don't blame him for going back. Yes, his level is probably a bit higher (Evostik Prem), but I really wish him well.

For the first time in my life, I sent a tweet this morning. Wished John well, and expressed the view that he could have been a force in a stable back four. He thanked me and agreed.

One of the worst defenders I've seen in an Alty shirt.

To be fair, didn't we manage to make David Lynch look sh*t until he joined Halifax?

I'm not saying John Cyrus is good but I don't think he's one of the worst defenders to pull on an Alty shirt in over 30 years. I've also been watching over 30 years and I have to admit that last season was the worst but I don't think Cyrus was as bad as some we've had. Shall we have a bit of light hearted banter and see how many dog sh*t defenders everyone can come up with 😊 I'll start off with Peter Gick...

Some of these defenders were decent once and have played at levels higher than we have ever been or have winners medals to their name. It is just that we employed them once they had mentally retired from football

James Glendenning

Of course ! His double act with Adam Farley was a horror show.....until they got together at Droylsden and rivalled Laurel & Hardy.
