Shaw Lane called off due to the FA wanting to hold the cup draw there? On a Friday afternoon when people have booked time off work and paid for train tickets. What sort of f**king joke is this?
-
Unbelievable. Going to be a bit flat if Mansfield win on Saturday.
-
Tonight we broadcast live from Shaw Lane who were knocked out of the FA Cup at the weekend. Lets see who they would have got in the second round.
This NEVER happens - very odd
-
Oh f**k off.
Transport sorted. Day off work booked. I'm absolutely fuming.
-
Weird and very late decision, almost certainly instigated by Shaw Lane to avoid having to play us 2 days after their massive game.
No consideration for away fans whatsoever.
-
Bill as a club we should be demanding the league to reschedule the home game against shaw lane for this Tuesday, this is unacceptable conduct by the FA
-
On a plus, Moult should be ok for the reshedulded date
-
Shaw lane & Mansfield have already agreed amongst each other to have the replay this Tuesday of tomorrow is a draw, we’ve been had over and should demand a walk over and 3 points
-

Seconded. I think this transcends just our club and the fixture in question, to be honest. A clear disregard for this level of football, probably born out of the presumption that we won't be taking many fans / it won't matter too much.
-
We need more than one paragraph on the clubs website, this a f**king piss take we need transparency on how this has come to pass? It’s a too of the table clash of the upmost importance not some kick about

At the risk of speaking for our Press Officers, I should say that they are working towards a more expansive statement surrounding the news.
-
I pray to GOD that we haven't agreed to any of this.
-
Another glaring indication of why we need to get ourselves out of this cesspit of a league this season. It is quite obviously expected that clubs and their fans will be passive enough to brush off a postponement like this. Barwell might not be that bothered but we would have had 150-200 there on Monday.
-
What an absolute bloody disgrace. I almost had to check the date to see if was an April Fools.
Complete and utter disregard for the fans, well I hope Mansfield rub their noses in it now and give them a tonking. Be an audience of around 3 at their recreation ground on Monday night, embarrassing them on live terrestrial TV.
SHAMBOLIC. I hope the Club are not just going to lie back with their legs in the air and accept this without registering ...at the very least...a very strong protest at the way we have been turned over. Some have bought tickets, booked off work etc...I hope the Board issue an extremely strong public protest.
-

Would be good to know whether it was actually Shaw Lane or the FA who sanctioned this (I'm sure Shaw Lane wouldn't have put up much fight against it!). If it was the FA then we wouldn't hold much clout in overturning their decision. If it was Shaw Lane then I agree, hopefully we didn't 'bend over' and let this happen. There probably won't be a better time to play them on their own patch in the remainder of the season, after a ET game in midweek and a 'glamour' cup tie two days before.
We need to insist this is put back to then end of the season when the conditions should suit us more. Playing in a bog in the middle of winter won't suit our game and would be a major disadvantage against what we would have faced Monday.
-
What fkn right do these media outlets have to dictate where and when THEY choose to dictate times and dates of fixtures.
I expect the answer will be "money". The FA should grow some balls and f**k these bastards right off.
Its a joke and Stinks...
-
Any reason why the coach needs to be cancelled on Monday night? I might pop down the M1... 😀

The issue is some fans have paid for trains in advance and already made arrangements.
I was under the impression that the FA have there draw venues planned in advance.
Something stinks about this, hopefully someone from the board can issue a statement
(But I won't hold my breath).
-
In fairness, whilst the board should have been able to sort the Coalville debacle out (albeit there could be outside/police influence there that they haven't told us about for whatever reason) I'm not sure they have had much or any say in this.
I can't believe they had the final say as to whether they agree as if so they would have agreed to it much earlier
SLA and Mansfield have found a loophole with regards to the replay date (which in itself raises integrity questions as to what Mansfield may have asked for in return!). Quite why it has to be called off already is a mystery because it may become a moot point by 3pm tomorrow? I'm sure the BBC bit is bollocks though as no reason the game can't go on at 7:45 as scheduled anyway.
-
It would be good and, indeed vital, to know just who is responsible for the game being called off before the original cup tie has even been played, which is a farce.
We have had plenty such rearrangements in the National League before, don't forget, but I would hope we can press for the game to be played on a Saturday. After all, the NPL say they try to arrang attractive games for Saturdays to maximise attendances.
-
I can see Jim Bowen walking on and going "Lets have a look of who you could have drawn" ;D ;D
-
The FA have been contacted and asked for a response or some sort of clarification. They asked for the request to be presented in email form, which has been done. We await a reply.
-
Doesn't it do us a favour considering the suspensions we have?
-
Fuming. I'd pulled a few strings to arrange that I was working reasonably close to Monday's game. BBC Radio Five Live are having a football special tonight - might send them a few messages telling them of our displeasure...

What’s more bizarre is certain sections of social media are insisting the FA Cup draw is taking place at victory park Chorley on Monday

I look forward to Mark Chapman giving himself a good kicking.

That would seem more logical as there is a game there Monday night.
There is a club statement promised for later tonight. Let's hope that club statement can clear things up.
-
Our best response to all this would be to beat Shaw lane when the game eventually goes ahead

Very true, from the fan's perspective that is also another issue. It would be nice for the decision maker on this to reimburse/buy train tickets for rearranged fixture. Unrealistic it will happen though!
-

Indeed. It's treating our club, players and supporters with contempt - there's no other word for it. Use it as further motivation to stay top and remain there until the end of the season. It does of course also show they're scared of us too.....
-
It is indeed treating our club and fans with contempt. However, in the long run I can't see this being a bad thing for us. By the time we travel to Shaw on March 3rd I fully expect us to have beaten them at home and for there to be clear daylight between us. Also, with the match at their place being scheduled for a Saturday (is that right? I thought they played Mondays), we'll certainly outnumber them.
-
They play their midweek home games on a Monday night instead of Tuesday.
-
Ah, I see. While it's a pain for those who have made plans, for the club I think this is best. Let's face it, we'll most likely beat them at home and surely that'll knock them out completely.
-
Rearranged for a Saturday in March.
-
Five out of next seven leagues games at home now. If we carry on with the current home form things could be looking very healthy come Christmas.
-
Feel for the fans who had made plans but I was happy when I saw the news, worried for us at Shaw Lane without Moult. By the time of the rescheduled we'll be 12 clear.
-
Sooner we get out of this two bob pub league the better. I’ll be surprised if the Aquaforce are still even in the Cup come Monday. I’ve never heard of such a ludicrous reason for a postponement in 30 years of watching Alty. Obviously they have cooked this one up with the League and Mansfield but I am certain we will make the new money pit village pay in the long run.
-
Absolutely essential that fans are reimbursed by the decision maker here. It's a fan's gamble if it's at risk due to a replay etc but it wasn't, replays at this level are 10 days later so fans should have been able to plan with certainty. I'm not one of these fans by the way. the club could do themselves a favour by pushing really hard and publicly for this, might get a few brownies points back
-
The way the re-arrangements have been made isn't exactly helpful in future cash flow terms - as I read it, as of now we have one home game between Feb 17th & Easter Monday (April 2nd) as against five away. The Stourbridge game has been fixed for the date of the Trophy 1st Round so might not quite be 'set in stone' & of course if we get through v Ramsbottom we'll have another home game to be re-arranged (v Ashton).
I find the way fixtures are set up, almost 'off the cuff' & entirely at the League's whim, the most amateurish aspect of this level. My sympathies are entirely with those who have made arrangements & paid out good money to travel on Monday - if I were being selfish I could be grateful for the prior commitment which stopped me even considering going - & I do think an approach should be made by the Club to the League for compensation on their behalf, as the statement on the club website makes clear the decision regarding this fixture was entirely down to the League. It may not bear any fruit but this action should be taken.
-
The club should push for compensation.
The fact it's now a Saturday means we should be looking at taking several hundred.
We do hopefully have Moult
In still cross though
-
For those of a nervous disposition I'd advise not to have a strong cup of coffee before reading the club's statement which is now on the main site. Oh and if you believe anything the Evostik tell you from now on as Jake Moult would say you're a bit of a dope.
-
My opinion only shaw lane and Mansfield have had a talk about replay and came up with let's play it on the Tuesday after no fa cup replays on that day no European games either so let's get your game off against alty and get the BBC interested in showing it live . Again this is only my opinion and might not of happened.

I think that's exactly what's happened Phil and no rules have been broken or bent in that regard. But since when does a Senior League call off it's fixtures on the advice of a TV broadcaster and not the FA? That the venue in question is now not to be used for the FA Cup draw after all seems to suggest it was always a red herring. If ever there was a case of 'bringing the game into disrepute' this is it.
-
True john but nothing will be done by anyone about what's happened.

We clearly want to play as many games at home across the winter and happy with an influx of away games in the spring when the pitches are better - sounds fair enough as its already been shown we struggle on dodgy pitchs
-
So it's 2:30pm on Saturday and no reason on God's green earth why we can't play at Shaw Lane on Monday night...
-
It's beyond bizarre. We need to get out of this god forsaken league as quickly as possible!
-
its disgraceful and now they are out they should be made to play the game now there out. Total disregard for football at our level by the BBC could have had the draw at Boreham Wood
-
Shaw Lane's season screwed in a few days no more fa cup or trophy
-
Tonight’s FA Cup draw is taking place at Slough Town FC, what a bloody shambles
-
Another debacle caused by the BBC. Tossers
-
No way they could have handled the furore of a tv broadcast and a football match at same time if we took 250 and their usual 87 fans turned up. Would have had the place in tatters.
Amazed they managed to get the Mansfield game on with the worry to be honest.
What a farce.
-
Those folk who are out of pocket due to the late cancellation should have a refund from the Beeb.
Don't hold your breath folks
-
It is actually BT that host the draw, the BBC simply broadcasts it. They were at Chorley.
Mind you, you will have even less chance of a refund from BT...
Good luck for the rest of the season. :)
-
After watching the game on Saturday I'm personally pleased that the Monday match was postponed. Hopefully we will be at full strength when we face them now.
Not good to have been messed about but money talks.
