I also thought we were good in patches and attempted to pass the ball quickly. Cav had a good game. However our two strikers didnt get much service. I said at the end of last season that we needed to add 6 quality players to the squad. Yesterday only two new faces started. The reality is that last season's squad is not not good enough for Conf Prem and we got promoted by the skin of out teeth. I didnt think Aldershot were a good side, only slightly better than ourselves, but took their chances. The ref was one-sided and inconsistent, but to be fair he did wait to see if there was advantage before blowing his whistle.
Please could the person in charge of stewarding at Moss Lane contact me as I would like to bring to their attention the way we treated yesterday by the insensitive, petty and pathetic attitude of their stewards. This was pity as last time we played there they were very good and friendly.
I found their stewards better than many we come across......what was the problem you had ?
I was invited to the match by my regional manager, who is a Shots fan and we had looked forward to watching this match together. He met me and my two boys (aged 10 and 11 years) at the Railway station and was with two of his wife’s French relatives as well as another mate. So as there were 7 of us together – 2 Shots fans, 3 Alty fans and 2 neutral, we decided to sit in the family stand for which I was charged £33 for me and the two nippers, and we had no issues in the first half. At half time as we tried to enter the Gents, I was singled out by a Steward for wearing a navy blue polo shirt with an Alty crest. My friend has gone ahead of me but me and my boys were refused entry, and although I didn’t argue the Frenchmen were very offended. Then along came big boss steward and my friends argued that there wasn’t a problem – to which I point out there was a problem in that Alty are 2-0 down! The two stewards then escorted me and my lads to the uncovered away terrace. After the match we were made to wait until the ground was empty before being allowed to re-join our party. They also threw out another Alty fan towards the end of game who also had a nipper with him. My lads are totally confused about the purpose of stewardship. In May we went to the Italy v Ireland game, sat in the Irish section of the Riverside stand and after the game were forced by stewards to leave literally through ¾ of the ground inhabited by Italy fans coming in the opposite direction. On that occasion I did rear up about the stupidity of the stewards, big boss steward did not appear and an FAI official did but I had run out of patience to argue with that stupidity, as the Avivia stadium in Dublin is shocking to access/exit.
As it is Aldershot policy that fans of the two teams can’t watch the match with each other, even in a family stand, away fans can’t access either of the two bars, I suggest we return the courtesy in the return match. When they come to Moss Lane I hope their fans are accommodated solely on the away fans terrace behind the goal, and not allow them in the family stand and we keep a section of the covered terrace between the sets of fans empty like they did yesterday.
