Title: Big turnout from Stockport on Saturday??
Post by: Brian Flynn on August 03, 2011, 01:54:26 PM
County had over 1300 at their Manchester Senior Cup game against Bolton Wanderers last night.....normally there would be about 200 for that type of game.

They are also wearing their new kit for the first time, so that might drag a few more over!

Its only a friendly and I don't dislike them as we have never been rivals but I would really like us to win this one

If the lads perform like they have been, then I dont see too much of a problem

Lets hope they bring as many as possible, they can gladly bring 5000 if they want. i think if we lined up full strength we would win the game, however we may see some of the crown jewels rested ahead of the harrogate game.

Any chance it will be segregated?

Give them the away end and end third of the pop side.

We arent sounding too welcoming here.

Weve had bigger clubs than Stockport come to play in bigger games in the last couple of seasons. We have coped ok, and the opposing fans always seemed to enjoy our hospitality.

Who cares if we give them half the pop side? Let them enjoy the match comfortably, same as we can. The more they bring the merrier, and the more chance of us having that bit in the coffers in case a decent playmaker becomes available in the early part of the season.

Bring on Stockport and another great pre-season crowd!

Hello chaps, you've probably guessed from my cryptic user name that I'm a County fan, I can't actually see more than 600 or so coming over on Saturday and the new shirt scertainly won't provide any added appeal, it is after all just a preseason friendly, having said that I'm looking forward to it as I used to be a fairly regular attendee at your place some years ago. I've not been to Alty for years so it'll be a nice stroll down memery lane, we're looking quite good going off the friendlies so far and Didi has managed to put a reasonable side together in vary short time, you'll find County fans a friendly bunch even though there was some trouble at Buxton but believe it or not their fans actually started it even though there were only about 15 of them, the vast majority of County fans didn't get involved but some had little choice.
Anyway can you reccomend any good watering holes, real ale prefferred but I don't want to go miles out of my way.

For real ale try the old market tavern it has about 15 real ales on  or if its real local fayre your after then try costellos in goose green which is the dunham massey breweries tap,and serves around 5 or 6 altrincham brewed beers and one altrincham brewed lager, very good beer and very cheap, look forward to welcoming lots of county fans to moss lane

Cheers Rocker, I'm looking forward to it even more now, I'm hoping there's no segregation, it won't be needed at all.

No problems,if you or any other county fans have any other questions, then direct them here and somebody will gladly answer.Dont be put out by the segregation, all our games are segregated, and its only dropped when a club brings about ten fans or so.

If you hear us singing in one or two of the local pubs don't give us a wide berth, come in and introduce yourselves, we've got some characters in our midst, the likes of Moonbird'  Flat Bonce, Pervy Tim from the'ills and The Morris dancing Major but I can guarantee you'll be amused.
