now there is a story about donny and also the nexxt home match against who?
god we behaved like pratts but it was fun at the time

to this day the most relieved i have ever felt was when those really hard looking doncaster fans said 'we're supporting you tonight, we hate scarboro'.

who did we play next

I remember that night at the Belle Vue Ground and have had a liking for Donny Rovers ever since. It really shut up those Scarboro fans.
Still even with that muscle behind us, one of the toughest lads in Alty in that era, got a broken nose that night.

Memories of that night in Doncaster.......

A Scarboro fan in a red and white striped shirt getting sussed by Donny fans and being legged round to the empty end behind the goal

As JiminLondon said, the trepidation on entering the ground in the same empty end and seeing some big lads come over from the side terrace. We feared the worst, they were Donny lads telling us to join them.

Unlucky old Foxy taking the rap for a bit of damage to our coach, sorry Foxy wherever you are?

Thinking we still just might get back into it after a late goal........

Gazelle, what's the significance of Barrow?

Also, who went to Rotherham for the first replay? Micky Moore......Aaaaarghh!!

I can recall with great cringworthyness those that went to Donny chanting donny rovers all night and those that didnt getting fed up with it and mock fighting breaking out (we were only 15/16) this some how worked us up into a Lord of the fliesesque attack on some barrow fans of a similar age. i cn remember following a 20 something? Barrow fan up moss lne thinking we were hard and giving him some gyp and then he  when he turned into  house on Moss lane and said "thats right i live here,i know where you live now feck off " or words to that effect ,the group of us went of with our childish tails between our legs.

s for wrting on the coach on the way too the match how stupid was that

Lord please forgive me for my teenage years...........

Gazelle, you are forgiven in my eyes.  How could I not forgive someone who can literally walk on water!

Yeh, OK mate.  Have sent an e-mail.  Glad to see Alty stayed up again.  If other teams behaved properly in the first place it wouldn't have to come down to technicalities.  They can clearly only try to stay up by flouting the rules.
