TWO MORE SIGN ON
Altrincham FC have signed two more loan players and a third will hopefully follow if the registration papers are processed in time. The two signed are utility player Ryan Toulson who arrives on a season-long loan from Halifax Town. The Halifax website which also describes him as a striker says that Ryan (dob 18/11/85), a "locally born player had become a permanent fixture in the right back position this season but Chris Wilder is eager to make changes to his defence". He has made 16(+3) appearances for the Shaymen this season.
The other signing, on a month's loan from Macclesfield Town, is left-back James Jennings (dob 2/9/87) who made 5 starts and 7 sub appearances for Macc. His only first-team appearance this season was an outing as a used sub. He is 5ft 10ins tall and weighs 12st 2lbs. According to the Macclesfield Town website, "JJ initially attended Manchester Citys academy, but after he was released at 15 he joined Macclesfield's Centre of Excellence where he played for the Under 16s team before becoming an apprentice at the Moss Rose. At the beginning of the 2006/07 season JJ was offered a contract by Brian Horton, he is hoping to make an impression and become a regular in the side".

I'm a bit confused, we have got two full backs on loan - aren't we happy with the full back area?

Or do you think he's going to push Lane/Peyton into midfield?  I know that it was a weak area on Saturday.

Warren is a left midfielder. we've needed a leftback since the start of the season.

Sorry I stand corrected.  I forgot after he did such a good job on Saturday ;)

We've only signed one full back unless i've missed something and that is a badly needed left back which we haven't had since Chris Adams left nearly two years ago!

Signing another right back does seem a little strange, unless GH plans to use one of them as a right winger. Perhaps Ryan Toulson has a good cross on him and comes in as a direct replacement for Colin Potts.

So what does this make the first XI?  And how many of them will still be able to be here and playing next season (ignoring the issue of which league we will be in?

Acton / Coburn - both still here

RB - Lane (still here)
CB - Tinson (retired)
CB - Shotton hopefully (returned to Stoke)
LB - Jennings (returned to Macc)

RM - Toulsen? (returned to Halifax or do a Senior?)
CM - Lawton (still here)
CM - King (returned to Rotherham)
LM - Peyton (still here)

ST - Little (retiring???)
ST - Senior (still here)

With Cahill to add to that short term.  With Val also looking like he hasn't got many more games left in him the squad is looking very thin indeed for next season (I know we have enough to worry about this season) - but scraping through 5th from bottom and miles away from the rest of the league will not help us attract the calibre of player we need next season - and we will need several.  If we are going to survive in this league we have to start making some progress.  I'm not talking top half here but we have to get out of the league of 5 mentality.

Certainly a possibility but then who plays RM - Robbie I suppose with Sedge back in the middle?

Does anyone else sense an aura of panic?

It does seem to be a clear change of strategy from Heathcote, previously he seemed hesistant to make loan moves.  Not sure whether it is Shotton or recent results, which have led to the change.

Will the new players have trained at all with the squad before New Year's Day?
