The biggest smash and grab you will ever see?

I've seen Alty not have a shot all game and win!

We scored a perfectly good goal through Dale, the first half chance when Connors raced clear and the keeper made a great save, the superb corner from Connors that somehow wasnt converted on the back post, Reeves volley that was almost easier to score and other little chances.

Darlo certainly had more of the ball and more shots on goal..then again they were at home and that was the plan to let them do that.

I see our latest forum member "Quakersam" has failed to post, maybe he was waiting for a different result!

One point out of six against us for the White elephants this season and it really should have been none. No wonder the Geordies are keeping quiet about it up there in Scotchland.

Interesting - we had periods in the game where we were on top.

As I think Hughsey mentioned in an earlier thread, for all their possession I dont remember too many clear cut chances.

The BBC local commentators view was that Darlo had dominated but that Alty had created the best chances.

Doncaster away?

I was there. A weak cross by Jason Gallacher was turned into his own net by the gigantic Doncaster centre half. ;D ;D ;D

To be pedantic as well, wasn't it an aimless punt up field by us which Walling in the act of attempting to do a backpass to their GK (Andy Warrington?) managed to knock past the onrushing Warrington, I think Jason Gallagher was possibly the only Alty player in the Donny half when it went in. The night of the famous quote in the car park on the way out as one Donny fan said to the other 'I wouldn't mind but they were fcuking sh*t"

was it as big a smash and grab as that game we were 2-0 up in at home with 15 minutes to go?

They could have described us as 'struggling' just one more time to emphasise the point I reckon.....

A cross came in from the left to Jason Gallagher....who headed it across the goal.It looked a straightforward ball for the keeper.....Andy Warrington, but Walling tried to clear, unaware that there were no Alty players behind him & he somehow got his clearance all wrong & the ball just bobbled in off his leg.........classic stuff!

Cooper's side dominated proceedings from the off and only they know how they lost this contest...

A Darlington player has let it slip on twitter that they didn't score any of their chances and Alty put the ball in the back of the onion bag hence they lost the contest thus.....

He's finally spoken about it.

Interesting what he said about freshening up his squad at the end of the season, could we be witnessing two Yorkshire players in bizarre goal celebrations at Alty next year...

is senior really any better than reeves as a goalscorer ? probably not much in it but imo reeves has the edge

Reeves is more likely to get into the right position - but Senior is by far the better finisher !

i would say senior does more with the ball at his feet like defoe but reeves is an ian rush predetory type which i like as its 20 goals a season nailed on

Two things about Reeves

1) this is his first season at the team
2) the quality of the team is pretty poor

Imagine what he can do playing in a better team and completely bedded in. Seems likely he will get to 20 goals this season, imagine one of our strikers getting 25!

I'd be afraid, very afraid if one of our strikers gets 20-25 goals in a season.

It would mean that there would be a very strong chance they wouldn't be with us the following season.

The lure of more money or full time would be very appealing

I believe with everyone back fit (and on form), this is the best side we've had in a while.
I'd love to see a couple of the loan players (well three actually*) stay on though!

Connors, Piergianni and, of course, Greg

I thought an old manager of ours was on telly stating how loan players didnt give you the desire required.

Don't get me wrong, I believe if we'd started with this squad we would be in a very different position. But for large portions of the season he has been supported by absolute crap and in particular strike partners have been a major problem.

I do like this from the Darlington & Stockton Times, taken from official website

The Robins' shotstopper upset his former Moss Lane teammate at the weekend when he left a belated and unwanted wedding present. But while most people leave some bedding or a vase as a gift, Coburn left The Northern Echo Arena with a clean sheet after a once in a lifetime performance that surely shatters any dreams Quakers had of making the play-offs.

Someone send them a video of Rushden this season, Nuneaton in the cup, countless other games!!!

Its become the norm for opposition managers NOT to give Alty the credit they deserve.... Mark Cooper  or should it be Tommy Cooper just joined the ever lengthening list
