Title: FA Cup Draw
Post by: One Foot in the Grave on August 20, 2017, 09:28:09 AM
I assume it's tomorrow ? There are plenty of banana skins in our section - an away trip to Hyde or Moseley in our present state wouldn't encourage me one iota. And I genuinely fear Leek Town.

The days of us having 'banana skin' tie are over.

Any club would love to draw us at their patch

The fact that we are in the first qualifying round at all fills me with sadness. I can remember being exempt to the first round. Some little club is going to get the non lge equivalent of drawing Man Utd

The stuff of my nightmares would be the winner of West Didsbury & Chorlton v 1874 Northwich away ...
We were last in this round in 1992, by the way, & went on to beat Chester in a 1st Rd replay (yes, Mr. Freeman's goal) before going out to Port Vale in round 2 ...
I can dream, can't I?

On the up side each round we progress is more money for Rowley to spunk away on sh*te!

Sunderland really have fallen from grace haven't they?

I may be wrong (again) but I think for this round the split is still North West apart from North East, with the two only merging later.

I don't think it is, Morpeth played colwyn Bay in this round last year in their run to playing us. Also winsford played Whitby and skelmersdale played dunston UTS. Sunderland are what used to be Ryehope CA on closer inspection

It would be incredible to get a few wins and get through to the first round proper

Come on alty

Thanks Pete. The old memory playing tricks again. Why do I  have a gut feeling that we're going to Colwyn Bay ? A few old ghosts to be exorcised there !

I'd like us to draw pennistone church or barnoldswick away for a ground tick point of view. However realistically the lowest ranked side at home please

I was going to question that.

We played Ryhope CA in the first round of our triumphant FA Trophy run in 1986.
