i have chanted at my computer to make it feel in the cup final mood
-
When I heard ITV had a big cup match on telly tonight I automaticly assumed it would be the CSC final
-
Apparently most of the first team are playing including Little, Shotton, and Coburn.
-
cornerflag sayas its nil nil
-
1 - 0 Senior! ;D
-
YESSS! Cmon boys!
Good to see Senior score
-

where are people getting these updates from?!
i can't really see the bbc covering it!
-
You've got to know the right people ;)
-
My mates there now, apparently were not up to much.
Pretty strong team aswel.
-
i have my own satelite and i am watching it live in my home cinema
yerr right
-
normal tactics?
was counting up tonight i've seen alty i five CSCs, won two, lost three, and this is the first i've missed.
-
Nantwich have about 400 with green and white wigs and a drum .. They taking it serious ...
We are being cocky and big time arrogant "1-0 and we still don't care"
as Joe has just said to me this is what it must be like for the likes of Torquay when they play us .. barr wigs and drum of course ... he he
and Gazelle - Ronaldo has done sod all in the Man U match so still hasn't proved himself against the bigger teams. How many players has he took on and beat ? .. and I'm not against ronaldo at all as remember I hate England Football Team and he p8ssed them off ;D ;D
-
how many alty fans are at the match
-
My mates there now, apparently were not up to much.

Probably out to do just enough.
-
still 1 - 0 then??
-
Around 200 alty there he thinks
-
my mrs just asked if it was on the radio. bless.
-
1-1
-
1v1
-
1-1 and heard they are all over us. Started being very physical though and we just don't want injuries.
-
Some good news GOAL: Histon 1-0 Northwich: Murray (68)
-
gw
based on your opinion and cote's lack of adventure ronaldo is probably on a par with Carlos Logan and would get two run outs for the last twnty minutes and released to play for barcelona curzon Ashton
-
Not at all. He's a good player but just don't think he's 'as good' as what everyone says. The Premiership, barr 4or5 clubs is a very weak league.
-
the one i dont understand is wes brown - cant tackle, cant turn, cant pass. plays for manchester united and england.
i wish ronaldo wasnt one of the best players i have seen live, but he is

Brown's not had a bad game today. He's good but not international class & no more than a squad player for a team like Alty United.
-
Nicky Daws, Sharratt, Ellison ... Come on he's nowhere near them ;)
best player I have ever seen live is Jurgen Klinsmann, runs for 90mins to get space .. Jogs from one touchline to the other and then suddenly sprints and creates space for himself. Pure class.
-
well its all about opinions ;D and mine is that all the threat roma has come down that side because brown cant defend
-
Fergie did, in fairness, bring Hargreaves on onto the right to offer some protection.

Jim
thought he was talking about me then until he said sprint. i could always make space usually beer breathe on a sunday morning was enough.
GW
the week league thing doesnt work with me as it is probably still the strongest league in the world bet you cant name another with more than 4 top class sides.
-
brown and fletcher are rubbish,Ronaldo and Rooney have put the red scum 2 up
-
brown and fletcher are rubbish,Ronaldo and Rooney have out the red scum 2 up
Fletcher had a good FA Cup game v the Arse, but has done very little else. Again, no more than squad player at best.
-
Losing 2-1
-
Bollox
-
yeah but the main point about the premiership is that it is boring. same as the so-called champions league. ditch and water come to mind.
-
I'm in Bognor Regis...
Did we play 4-5-1..try and contain them?
-
at least now we can concentrate on the league / i'd swap this for three points at kidderminster
isn't that what we are supposed to say now?
-
I'm in Bognor Regis...
Did we play 4-5-1..try and contain them?
I'd find that funny if I didn't think it could be true.

-
We should be beating teams like Nantwich ;)
-
good to hear we're keeping our sense of humour in such circumstances..... we really should be beating teams like Natwich!
-
are they part-time?
-
C'mon this will be a massive game for Nantwich where as for us it is just an interuption to the relegation battle.
I am sure our minds are elsewhere.
-
We should be beating teams like Nantwich
perhaps if we keep sayin' it it might happen!
-
]
Bloke goes into the doctors and says doctor i keep o thinking i am a mouth organ
doctor replies thats strange there was a women in earlier with the same complaint
bloke say oh that will be our monica
-
A trophy will be a morale & confidence booster - no matter the oposition.
I daresay, however, the players are more interested in not getting injured.
-
Christ who cares we don't need extra time in this tin pot rubbish, there should have been an accidental OG in the last few seconds. More important fish to fry.

Sushi or steaming is more appropriate
name six fish beginning with the letter H
-
Lets be honest, their players will be treating this like.... well, a Cup Final. We'll be treating it as a warm up keep fit dont get injured match. They'll go into every 50 50 and we wont. End of.

i missed going to the game because i didnt finish work til 8 . i needn't have worried.
Youd have got stuck in the stationery traffic anyway!
-
" We're gonna win the Cheshire Senior Cup" Interchangeable with NW Floodlit League.
Usually sung after a home defeat to Gt Harwood.

thats really odd, as i walked home tonight i was singing a song to myself about the north west floodlit league. i havent thought of the nwfl for at least 30 years. what a strange competition that was
-
lost 5-3
Glad I didnt go now - regardless of stationary traffic!!
-
If we let in 5 pens I assume Stu wasn't in goal.
-
well done nantwich. expect a lot of chuckling from the other side of the canal.
-

Nite all

lost 5-3.
Sedgemore missed....only 5 more games to go in his Conference career...
Who else missed?
-
another quiz
impossible to think north west floodlight league without thinking who?
-
I think Stu is one of them keepers, if he goes the right way, unless it is hit hard and deemed by all as 'unstoppable', he'll save it.
and probably nantwich had to score their 5th to win, alty taking first, so there is no need in us taking out last, as they would win anyway.
-
another quiz

me?
-
Oh dear WTF never mind, good look Nittwich.TBH I wish we didn't have to enter it, it really is a potential nuisance at the end of a season like this.
Hope no injuries, onwards to Saturday.
-
I came home after Nantwich scored their 3rd. We were bloody awful and deserved to lose. I don't care if it's a tinpot cup or not. We're god knows how many leagues higher than they are and they outplayed us. Fecking rubbish.
-

If Nantwich went 1st we would not have needed to take the last pen.
I reckon Nantwich wanted it more tonight & we had players wanting to stay out of crippling tackles
-

Anyone else dumbfounded that we were playing as strong a team as we could when we have 5 unbelieveably crucial games coming up???
I know it's nice to win silverware, but surely retaining conference status and avoiding fatigue and injury is more important than the Cheshire cup!! ???
-
I can only assume that, with so many loanees ineligable, there wasn't any other players left.
-
mr le B
was an alty lad who was on the fringes of the team in mid seventies, ex hayes albion. he scored a few goals in the NWFL. and is a god to rival johnny vernon in my eyes
-
Chucklng away to myself..................Yes Gazelle you were my mentor!
WE SHOULD'VE WON THE CHESHIRE SENIOR CUP.
Did we ever actually win the NW Floodlit league?
-
I can only assume that, with so many loanees ineligable, there wasn't any other players left.
Sedgemore, Scott, Aspinall, Owen and McFadden all on the bench! They could have started instead of the first teamers like Shotton, Little, Lawton etc!
-
of course we did
North West Floodlit League:
Champions 1968-69, 1970-71, 1972-73, 1974-75
dont remember any of ity but sure we beat macc in the final a couple of times, over to the historians
-

Owen should deffo have started to get some more match fitness
-
Gazelle you have a book/old prog in front of you.
Right then, what was/is the Edward Case Cup?
-
whats odd is that if you google north west floodlit league nearly all the results are from the alty legends pages. there is one from mossley and one from bradford park avenue, both talking about power cuts in 74! maybe it was a weird hallucination affecting alty and never really happened.

BRIAN LEBOUTILLIER
Longstanding supporters of Altrincham FC will be interested to hear that the former Robins' forward Brian Leboutillier has been in touch with the website. Brian, who made a number of first-team appearances for Alty in the 1979-81 period, is now living in Salisbury, Wiltshire where he holds a senior position with O2(UK), the communications company. He came to Moss Lane via local football after playing for Heys Albion. Brian maintains his football links by managing Bemerton Heath Harlequins Reserves, who play in the Jewson Wessex League -they won 5-2 last weekend! He sends his best wishes for Christmas and New Year to all at Altrincham FC and hopes to make a visit to Moss Lane in January or February.
-
The Cheshire County FA can fine clubs which deliberately do not field their strongest side in the Cheshire Senior Cup a minimum of £200

Who is to prove that a couple of our strongest players got knocks in training?? ;)
-
WTF did that come from?
To Le Marseillaisse......... Brian, Brian ,Brian, Le Bouitillier, Brian Le Boutillier
-
Gazelle, were our French teachers crap or what!
-
i found the answer in our honours page that isnt on the main site but is somwhere in space.
you were eligible to enter the edgar case cup if you were a team whose name began with A and were based in broadheath . unfortunately we usually got beaten by the atlantic club and famously arrys chippy (1897) who were dissapointingly thrown out for cheating two years later. amilton accademicals were runners up one year but were late for the kick off as they were near stonhenge looking for salisbury rec at the time
-
The Cheshire County FA can fine clubs which deliberately do not field their strongest side in the Cheshire Senior Cup a minimum of £200
200 quid? That'll be the combined revenue through the away turnstiles next season from Gainsborough, Hucknall and Alfreton if we go down OR what we will get off York fans on programme sales if we stay up. No brainer for me tonight, should have binned it off with kids/reserves where we could.
-
Minimum? Stat suggests Lower Peovior Albion reserve Xi would get a £200 fine whereas we would be in the frame for enough to keep our friends at the swamp afloat for a season.
-
Oops, last post suggests enough has now been consumed tonight so in the interests of not makin g myself look a tit I'm off for the evening. G'night all.
-
i'm off too got to make a miracle recovery from cant move in bed with bad back to chef by 10.30 am
i believe certain herbs help with back pain, anyone ??
-
What if you have a few injuries that are only slight knocks picked up at a weekend match? If the player is fine again for Saturday but is genuinely unfit for the Tuesday, would you still be fined?
-
i'm off too got to make a miracle recovery from cant move in bed with bad back to chef by 10.30 am

what helps with back pain is regular exercise, treatment from an osteopath and doing mobility and strength exercises eg. pilates
and diazapam
talking to the wall i suspect

Resting injured players has been misused for years.
Biggiest culprits are Rangers. They withdrew players from Scotland's last match yet they were fit to play for Rangers both Saturdays preceding and afterwards which just happened to ba a match with Celtic.
They once withdrew all 4 of their players from Scotland's Euro 1988 qualifier in Bulgaria (all 4 were regulars in Scotland's first team). Yet all 4 played for Rangers the Saturday before and the following Satuday, as all 4 made miraculous recoveries in 2 days. Scotland could no longer qualify, but the match was important as Bulgaria only needed a point to qualify. What actually happened is Scotland fielded what was in effect a reserve side, but against all the odds substitute Gary Mackay of Hearts scored a last minute winner. The implication was that the Republic of Ireland finished top of the qualifing group ahead of Bulgaria - something not celebrated by Rangers followers.
-
Yes, last week United did that. Ronaldo and Nani both picked up 'thigh strains' in the win over Liverpool, thus not being able to play for Portugal. Although, judging by his lack of action, Nani's looks genuine, Ronaldo was fit again for the weekend.
