Gannon appointed Stockport football director

Stockport County are pleased to announce that Hatters legend James Gannon has been offered, and accepted, the position of Director of Football at the club.
James will be responsible for all football matters including 1st team selection and transfers, he will be assisted by Willie McStay.
Chairman Lord Peter Snape stated he had also invited John Fitzpatrick and at least one of his colleagues from the 'Your Town Your Team' group to join the Board of Directors.
Lord Peter Snape said tonight "I welcome the re-appointment of the most successful manager in the clubs recent history, and look forward to working with James and our new colleagues on the Board"

If he were a mere manager one supposes he would be plain, common "Jim", but he's a DIRECTOR now, and obviously a man of substance, so "James" it shall henceforth be !

The phrase, ladies and gentlemen, is "delusions of grandeur" - but in reality, given the state of things at Edgeley Park, he should be called "Baron Hardup" since the whole thing is a long-running pantomime.
