Why were we in yellow yesterday ?
Our kit is Red & white....How the hell does that clash with Blue ?
-
I have a bit of inside knowledge, we have 3 GK kits currently, Green, Blue and Red, could'nt use Green because they nomiated GREEN for their GK, could'nt use BLUE because they played in blue, so using RED meant we had to use our away kit, yellow, OK?
-
Fair enough then.
-
I miss Coburns purple shirt with silver piping. that was my favourite goalkeeping jersey

I may be being thick here but I don't understand this. We had to use Red, so played in yellow? I still don't get why we couldn't play in our first-choice strip - red and white stripes.
-
our keeper had to wear red.. so the rest of our team couldn't have red as the predominant colour.. so yellow had to be worn.
Got it?
-
Am I missing something here? Our first choice kit whilst AWAY is yellow surely??? ???
-
Are goalkeepers not allowed to wear the same colour as each other? A genuine question.

ATS would be the definitive source, but I'd say not - think keepers coming upfield for last ditch set pieces and it becomes clearer.
-
GK can't wear same as each other UNLESS there is no alternative GK kit

No, Conference rules demand different colour's for GKs.
-
Never knew that.
Always wondered about some choices of use of away kit, that explains it perfectly.
Something new every day and all that.

Is it? Or is yellow our change kit, ie the one we use when we can't wear red and white (which should only ever happen at away games but not all of them)? I don't actually know what official policy is on this but I'd like to see us in red and white whenever possible myself.
-
The way I see it our first choice kit whilst at home is red and white. Our first choice kit whilst away is yellow. Our first choice kit whilst in cups is red and black. The other kits should be worn only if there's a kit clash?
That's the concept of home and away kits surely?
-
Then why did we wear red and white at Stalybridge?
Maybe this is a generational thing because I don't think of our yellow kit (or whatever it is in any given season) as our away kit but as our change kit.
-
If I remember rightly, their GK was in yellow?

Each goalkeeper wears colours which distinguish him from the other players, the referee and the assistant referees.

After Saturdays debacle maybe they should wear Daglo Orange strips then they may pass the fkn ball to each other
(Said with tongue in cheek plus a dose of Truth) ;)
-
Isn't this the reason we played in red and white stripes at Harrogate but with red shorts? Because of the shorts clash or something?
-
correct , Premier League allow it, Conference dont

A bit like the abandoned kit used at Frickley some years ago

Reminds me of when a ship carrying red paint collided with a ship carrying blue paint - all the crew members were marooned.
I'm here all week - unless I get a better offer elsewhere (which I won't)!

red and white isn't our 'home' kit, it is our 'first choice' kit.
yellow isn't our 'away' kit, it is our 'second choice' kit.
providing there is no colour clash we should always wear our first choice kit.
