Title: Quality April Fools by Altrincham Today
Post by: markecky2 on April 01, 2017, 09:22:50 AM
They are reporting that Doughty can't believe we have offered applications for the job and that GH has resigned in protest?

Worse than that the galvanised team spirit has gone out of the window??

That's a real blow losing that, hope it doesn't affect results too much.

The pantomime goes on.

Yep just read of the Heathcote resignation he thinks there is a problem in the dressing room that is being addressed........given we have only won two league games he is pretty perceptive. Goodall is appointed in his place.......why do we need three in charge?

I saw that via their Twitter page and I would like to say I'm surprised but....

Apparently we should have just given the job to MD and invting applications is totally the wrong way to go about it. Because last time we just gave the managerial job to a friend of the Chairmans that ended so well.

I could understand him saying that as he clearly wants the job (and let's be honest is virtually guaranteed to get it) but there's a noticeable tendency for his public comments to be unprofessional and reflect badly on the club. His comments about Jim Harvey's brief reign in sum 'nothing to do with me guv' don't convince at all.

I suspect the reason that board meeting lasted 5 hours is because GR wanted to just give MD the job for next season outright without interviewing anyone else but someone talked him round. The ludicrously short deadline for applications the obvious compromise and ruse to ensure Doughty gets it anyway.

Looking at things logically though. If GH has resigned, then he knows that MD is DEFINITELY not going to get the job.

I will eat my hat, and yours, if Doughty leads us to promotion next season.

This is a bang on safe bet.

Isn't it a bit odd that the official Twitter account is posting stories which contains quotes where the manager criticises the board?

They should change the password again.

I suspect Buzz probably feels a bit let down as he thought he was going to get the job, maybe stability was the word used to him? I can understand him feeling aggrieved but he must be realistic here. With the best will in the world, you've had 3 months to make an impact and the players have just slept walked - for the second season running - into relegation. Not with the same effort that Robbie and Buzz got relegated with.

Maybe they felt it was a done  deal again and a statement earlier than this may have shown them they needed to play for Matt if they wanted him to be kept on.

As for GH, well everything has it's time. Some good, some bad but he certainly shouldn't be trying to be king maker. Like with a lot of things around the club, we should be grateful for all his services but moving onwards now...

The open application process was responsible for the first goal at Bradford? Ah I see now. That explains how our midfield and defence were so easily carved open. Damn that open application process! Probably lose again today.

That interview is a total joke. MD is constantly banging on about what a big club it is, how we need to rebuild, etc. And then he uses his twitter feed to spout off about garbage - swearing after BPA, retweeting gushing praise from the odd person - plus gives this embarrassing interview. Obviously it mustn't be pleasant being in his position, but the lack of perspective in those comments is frightening.

We are bottom of the league, so we are going to lose games.

Where do you start with that?

The only member of the management trio who's conducted himself with real dignity and professionalism is Robbie Lawton - I'd like to see him stay on as assistant to a more experienced manager. Doughty has now talked himself out of a job he could easily still have got. What a fool.

As I posted to a few friends on FB:

"I would go if I was there.....a combination of morbid curiosity, emotional attachment and a, perhaps misguided, sense of loyalty. It would be akin to watching a very close friend slip into a coma and you have no way of knowing if you'll ever see them healthy again."

My usual Saturday ritual over here across the water would be to cook my mother's dinner whilst listening to RR. The truth is I really don't care about the result today and I'm not sure I even want to listen, but probably will. This season (well 2 seasons) has truly been like death by a thousand paper-cuts. I feel sad and it hurts, but have become numb to a certain extent by constant disappointment both on and off the field.

....and what a sadly apt front cover this is......
