Title: People's first choice 11
Post by: oneedham on October 20, 2022, 09:39:02 AM
Out of interest, what are people's first choice 11?
Including current loan players, 5 subs and everyone fully fit.

                                Byrne

Barrows       Toby     Baines      E.Jones

                   Lundstram   Marriott

       Kaja               Kossy           Colclough

                              Dinanga
                         ( current form )

Subs : Hulme, Con-Clarke, Cooper, Pringle & Bennett/Osborne

If we had everyone fit and firing on all cylinders, I feel we would be mid table. That midfield would boss games.

I'd play Osborne or Hulme in the 10 and have Kosylo on the right, otherwise, it would be the same as your side.

I'd be delighted with either option actually.

I think Hulme could do well as a 10. The games where we don't need a 10 to assist the CM's.

Osborne for me is average, doesn't influence games enough. Known for his distribution but Jake was much better at spreading the ball.

Kossy was really good in the 10 position and I think age will catch him up for the wide position. Kaja looks strong and can put a decent ball in.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the mythical Sami.

Surely he's the first name on the teamsheet?

Perhaps goodson would be an option for the wide right berth?

I like the look of this team.......on paper.

The best way to describe Osborne, using Football Manager ratings, is that I've never seen a player churn out 6.8/10 performances on such a regular basis.

Even when he has a good game, he's 7 at best... bad game, maybe 6.5.  He's just... there.

Never been convinced by Osborne tbh ,  a downgrade on Jake in my opinion .

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean.

I think he is just a tad more mobile than Jake but not a better player. Would be a mistake to not play a Kossy or CCC as No.10 to accommodate him.

Totally agree, Lundstram at the moment is first name on the teamsheet.

3rd for me - after Colclough and Dinanga.

If we had everyone fit and firing on all cylinders, I feel we would be mid table. That midfield would boss games.

100% agree with this…. However, I do believe there are better strikers out there that get straight in our team and within a guessing budget of £800-£1000 a week. Hopefully the support promised by the board and our amazing physios can have this team in place and ripping up teams very soon!

Given weve offered some players £200 a week... This might be easier said than done

Blimey , half the squad must be claiming Universal Credit Swindells , Worth and Bert Lister were on that 😉

if there were, I'm sure Parky would have one in the squad.

What this tells me, given the fitness issues of Kaja / Jackson, is that we still need a first choice right winger that can stay fit.

Thought Goodson was supposed to be a prospect for there. Why not give him a shot?
Apparently he's got goals in him too.

Con Clarke and Bennett (who I'd probably have back in Jannuary) are better than Brad Jackson going forward (Think Brad offers more rounded game) would start ahead of Kaja and Jackson.

Not seen enough of Kaja to suggest he can do it for us consistently from the start - we're yet to replace mooney.

I agree. Have seen  Ryan Rydal isnt playing much for Stockport. I'd have him here in a heartbeat
