Is anyone else having issues with Radio Robins?

He is so important to us. Magic as a holding midfielder,  I fear this. I also fear Richman and Leather too. Only time I dislike supporting a part time team. Our players can easily be poached and offered contracts which they can't turn down :-(

*deflated - even I am still shatterd from Sat haha! A game to forget but already I have a feeling the Colchester game will go the same way as tonight if we don't get a couple more players in.

Terrible second half but for some reason I don't feel angry but more defkatrd  I just had a feeling we'd be shattered after the effort on Sat but saying that some players Leather, Moult and Richman put in the effort. I know they are generally fitter lads but some players need a bollocking after that. Thought Sinnott did OK too!

Defo need a centre back, centre mid to go alongside Jake and Simon and as you say Pete a pacey outlet. One of my close mates supports Macc, I just hate it haha! I would honestly give the players the entire week off. They need to refill their tanks quickly before Sat.

Agreed, we need depth. I was praying for rain all day, too aoon after Sat. Some players still need to take a look at themselves, I'll have they are shattered but a couple looked as if they couldn't be arsed. Doesn't feel like a derby,  always poor atmosphere by both sets of fans.m

I would always play the 4-2-3-1, we need 3 central mids in most games in this league and I think we play well having wide players like Clee and Crowther supporting the lone striker.  Far to open 4-4-2, that's when teams walk through us. If Clee can play I'd give Lawrie a rest and have Crowther,  Clee and Reeves/Rankine as the three pronged attacking threat with the three centre mids as cover.

Sometimes his tactics baffle me but he is good for this club. Style of football is great to watch, gives a good interview, works within a tight budget.  Him and Neil deserve a lot of credit, it wasn't too long ago when we could put three passes together,  we can now play nice football.

That was unreal,  atmosphere was amazing, the lads effort was out of this world. Just magic, for me that's the best feeling you can get. We are such a stronger team with three midfielders against any team. Tough decision between Reeves and Rankine, Reeves goalscoring and poacher instinct is the best we have but Rankine has the power to hold it up for the wide players to catch up play. Crowther was excellent,  very positive.  How their right back is a full time player is scary. Well done to everyone, being allowed up in th corner for the second half was a wise decision as the atmosphere is always better when we are allowed access.

Altrincham FC First Team / Team for Saturday and defending corners
« on: November 05, 2015, 12:35:17 AM »
Rankine and Densmore are out , both will be hugely missed. I would have started Rankine up front alone.

Clee will be a last minute decision but if there is any chance he can play then put him straight in there.

Tactically I feel we will need three in midfield but that may depend on the fitness of wide players like Clee and Crowther.

A concern I have is bringing all players back for corners against a higher level opposition. I hate the tactic and after watching it closely this season I would say it allows most opposition one or two extra crosses into the box or even shots outside the box, we just clear our lines straight back to them.

Against Chester I saw one corner lead to 4 crosses into the box. You could argue the fact we do not concede that often from this tactic but we will come undone with it soon. Just invites intense pressure in our box, crazy tactic in my opinion and that is a concern for Saturday.

Team I would go for depending on fitness and current injuries would be :-

                                                                            Deasy

Sinnott RB                 Havern CB                  Leather Cb                         Griffin LB
                                                                        Moult DM
                                                                        Richman CM

                                                                        Lawrie  AM
                            Crowther  RF                                                                             Clee (LF)
                                                                         Reeves CF

Depending on fitness and I would debate whether Crowther and Lawrie have it in their tank to work back and not to give away silly free kicks. I thought O’Keefe had an excellent game against Chester but still not my cup of tea. Lawrie is a big game player but we need him up for it, trying to win the ball rather than being more interested in committing a foul. We have a big chance, it is eleven v eleven. Just get at the them from the off, I am a strong believer if you start strong and positive in attacking play against teams in the early stages it rattles them and this could be our chance for an early goal. Don’t give them any respect.  Come on boys, have the belief, I can't sleep and it is only Wed night.

Altrincham FC First Team / segregation v Chester
« on: October 19, 2015, 09:21:07 PM »
Please please keep the side open so that we can be further up the pitch in the second half. I appreciate security has to be considered but this season we have been far too cautious.  Last time we were in the conference we always kept it open and there were some big away supports then and no trouble. It makes viewing and the atmosphere much better and this in turn encourages the team on.

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Gateshead highlights
« on: October 19, 2015, 08:44:52 PM »
Good point but those highlights confirmed again that we are useless at defending set pieces or crosses this season.  I just don't understand having all men back for a corner,  every time it comes out to the opposition to put another ball in. It basically gives them two free crosses and on many occasions more, horrible tactic that constantly puts us under pressure..

Altrincham FC First Team / Can dreams come true?
« on: October 13, 2015, 09:45:59 AM »
After spending most of a day with Liam Gallagher last year I reckon some dreams can come true.

As I don't dream that often I am hoping my dreams are a sign, so my dream last night was Paul Scholes playing for Alty. He actually said ' I am happy to play part time at a local club ' come on Graham and Lee make this happen, you know it makes sense.

I just wonder if it is worth a cheeky phone call, I am sure the club can get contact details if they have attracted Fergie and Keane to the club, I even reckon Rod Thornley could make it happen.

A few training sessions and there is the answer to our midfielder right there haha creativity, passing and scoring. Just maybe it is worth that cheeky phone call, you never know unless you ask the question and he does keep showing his face at events or down on a local astro turf.

Was it Bernard Taylor who once phoned someone like Gazza ? ( again I may have dreamt it )when he was going through that spell of signing all non league stars and a grand per game Andy Dibble when we had Coburn on the bench haha!

Dreams can come true, that would be unreal. Pick up the phone it is good to talk Graham :-)

Altrincham FC First Team / Re: Formation
« on: October 11, 2015, 09:25:09 AM »
In my opinion we are a weaker team apart from Rankine but the improvement had to be in midfield and wide players as our priority and the new mids in O'Keeefe and nob head Griffith were awful signings. Like I said I saw in 80 mins that O'keefe was nowhere near the standard so he must have been like superman in the pre season friendlies I missed. Should have kept Williams. I think we'll be OK but only just this year. Need to practice on crossing,  fitness and teach players like Lawrie how to track and bloody tackle. Still fuming this morning.
