Altrincham FC First Team / This is huge
« on: March 05, 2016, 09:46:29 AM »
I hardly use the word hate but I hate Macc, mainly because they have a high number of horrible people supporting them, if you can use the word supporting. If by any chance any of our players read this then please give it your all, I want a battle out there. Let's get tough, God I hope Richman is fit. Message to the club, let us have all the side for the second half, it makes a huge difference to the support and that means we will get behind them a lot more. Stop being a yes club and giving in to the cover stand. They don't do it for us.

Yeah nice one mate. I need to vent on here or I'd break out in stress spots. My place to blow some steam.

Top effort by the club and all the helpers to get the game.

To add we have needed another centre mid all season but even when we had Sinnott or O'Keefe there we got better results. It is clear to see. Having three mids allows more options to pass and get ourselves up field. Plus Moult sat in front of the back 4 breaks up so many opposition attacks. How many times have we seen the opposition recently walk through the centre of the park, they make it all the way to our box too. Badly miss Moult in that position. It's embarrassingly clear to see. I am not saying we will get results week in week out with three as Richman is now out and we need to try and loan a decent centre mid but we need to change it and get back use to playing that way before it is too late.

We aren't even getting the simple things correct. AGAIN our midfield was outplayed, I know we have injuries but we need three players in there. No leadership or some old fashioned grit ( been saying this since bloody Robbie Lawton left and he wasn't a partically good footballer ). We had no movement in forward play which makes our options limited and passing slow. Even Josh wasn't making the runs, our team seemed 10 yards behind play. This resorts to long ball and the ratio to chances created by long ball play is poor. Keep repeating myself but surely they must see this, if not I suggest Sinnott sits high in the standard and watches games. Only Lawrie and Holness had the heart and passion today. Can't blame the pitch as Guiseley passed it very well. I am worried.

The formation should have been changed in the first 10 mins against Chester. We were getting over run, they were walking through us again. We should have gone to a three man midfield way before Richman became injured. I would have took off the ineffective Margetts and had Rankine as the lone striker. It was clear it needed changing. Absolutely disgraceful performance and tactics last night. As previously stated we so needed a decent centre mid loanee and we need a 3 man mid as I keep saying. We were torn apart. Wake up Sinnott and boys or we are down.

I still think we are far too open playing 4-4-2 even though it makes for more exciting games. Margetts is a good player but I would play Rankine up top alone with Ginnelly and Crowther ( who was excellent in that first half on Saturday ) attacking as they have been doing. I just think we need that extra man in midfield to tighten up. I did enjoy the game and the lads are working very hard.  Great commitment from the loaness, really impressed with Ginnelly and his attitude for such a young lad.

I am amazed by this, I've have just hammered it back from Bala hungover. Gobsmacked. Does no one get a bloody fork out nowadays?????

From what I saw on Tuesday excellent additions. Ginnelly and Margetts look very good players. Ginnelly is especially exciting and works back so hard. Great to see from such a young player. Looking forward to the game tomorrow.

I have been one to criticise the 4-4-2 formation but we were excellent last night. I don't think we could sustain that tempo for the remaining games but I enjoyed that performance. Ginnelly and Margetts helped in that formation, along with Rankine they harassed from the front, closed down and attacked with purpose.Ginnelly is a talent and can cross the ball. Margetts is excellent at closing down and kept going. We put a fair few crosses in, even the full backs got high up. Just so much more positive, even kept one up on corners and Margetts held it up a couple of times to allow the defence to get out ( about bloody time we stopped all coming back).Scott looked more confident with a more experienced defensive partner.Rankine was immense, midfield worked hard and counter attacked well. Excellent performance by the whole team. Keep it going boys

I need another rant as it needs addressing sooner rather than later.

If by any chance you read the forum then do what a manager should be doing and look at statistics this season. Look at our results playing 4-4-2.

We needed a third energetic, strong box to box centre midfield to play alongside Richman, with Moult doing what he does best breaking down attacks in front of the back 4 as a defensive midfielder.

I believe Sam Heathcote could become a good player but he needs to toughen up and I think the Vanarama National League is too much of a big step at this moment. Lee should have looked at another centre back whilst Havern is having an up and down season with performances and injury and with Marshall way off fitness.

I have been to most home games and a couple of the away games and it is clear from what I have seen that we are not good enough playing 4-4-2, we are far too open and teams run right through us, we also revert back to long ball to Rankine.  It does not work. Lee always states that he wants us to pass and play the ball up the field but his current tactics do not indicate this.

RB       CB       CB       LB
                        DM
                     CM
                        AM
RW                            LW
         CF
DM Moult – Sitting in front of the back four.

CM Richman – Plenty of energy closing players down – this position covers all the area in-between the defence and attacking players.

AM - Should have been new loan player but maybe Lawrie but I fear he has not got the stamina or strength to play box to box. This position is higher than Richman and Moult but still involves defensive cover and an attacking option. I say Lawrie because his best position is central and he can find that killer past but he’s a very soft player.

We attack a lot better having one up front, all season our centre midfield has needed reinforcement, I appreciate Griffith did our legs but we have brought in 3 loan players and I appreciate we needed wide players after we lost our most attacking and creative player in Clee but we are shipping in goals and we need players to close opposition attacks down.

I am so frustrated that we continue with 4-4-2, football has moved forward and we are trying to compete with full time teams with an outdated 4-4-2 formation. Lee and the players need to sort this out because we can not go back down into that terrible league.

Even at home I would play one up top. We need to become solid. In football it does not mean we will score more goals having two players up top, especially when we struggle getting it up there to them.

I don't know if you were there tonight, but that was a classic example of 4-4-2 at it's best by attacking in numbers and playing it on the deck.

Yes I was there and we played very well with 4-4-2, Ginnelly and Margetts made a huge difference to playing that formation as they both closed down and defended from the front. We looked dangerous going forward, I really enjoyed the game but if you think we can keep that tempo for the remaining games at 4-4--2 then you can have my house. Scott looked more confident with an experienced defender next to him. Rankine was immense, the whole team were excellent. Keep it going.

I wonder how many we have conceded from crosses and corners this season. Never thought I'd ever say this but I think we miss Marshall.

Hours later, still pissed off and I have no right to be because I have not done the distance some have. Respect. However, Lee you and the players need to roll your sleeves up, get dirty and f**king have it. All of you grow some bollocks or I'll come out of retirement with Eddie and Val and smash the league.

Good decision.  He needs some game play and confidence. Play with that head up George.
